Affordable housing tops the agenda for leaders across the country. The United States Conference of Mayors recently released its 2024 election priorities, a bipartisan national issue platform that will drive the mayors’ advocacy at this summer’s Republican and Democratic national conventions and beyond.
On the for housing, they say: "Without further delay, the next president and Congress must pass the largest and most comprehensive investment legislation in in American history that incentivizes production, helps families buy their first home, ends homelessness, and ensures that our first responders, teachers and frontline healthcare workers can live where they work."
Federal / local partnerships are critical in addressing the most pressing issues in our country. Habitat for Humanity recently concluded , a five-year U.S. campaign, that led to 6.6 million people gaining access to stable and affordable homes and more than 300 policy changes. Discover the of this campaign and learn how you can advocate for this most urgent need at https://www.habitat.org/costofhome.
🎆Happy Independence Day from all of us at Habitat Philadelphia! We are proud to work alongside our communities to build a Philadelphia where everyone can experience independence and the opportunity to thrive through affordable housing. Wishing you all a safe and wonderful holiday.
Our Development team recently wrapped up an incredible two-day collaborative retreat, where we took time to reflect on the many milestones from the past year and strategize for an even more impactful year ahead! Now, we’re ready to reach higher goals, build and repair more homes and work alongside even more families in our city.
Thank you to Prosperity Home Mortgage, LLC for the wonderful space and hospitality.
Last week, our Habitat Philadelphia staff spent an incredible three days at , hosted by the National Apartment Association.

It’s , and on this Freedom Day, we commemorate the end of slavery and remember the continued struggle towards racial justice in our country. In Philadelphia, the effects of racist housing policies can be seen in the racial wealth gap today and continues to fuel the work of affordable housing and housing equity. Please join us in remembering this part of history today and the significance of Juneteenth on our city and country.

Homeownership looks good on our newest Habitat homeowners!
Yesterday, five families cut the ribbons and turned the keys to their new homes at Coltrane Commons in Strawberry Mansion!
Habitat staff, future and current homeowners, neighborhood residents and community partners came together to celebrate Barbara and Dev’Ron, Angie, Marcia, Adrienne, Danielle and their families as they entered a new chapter of their lives. Now, five more children can grow and thrive in a safe, stable family home, celebrating birthdays and holidays in a place they can call their own.
As Corinne O'Connell put it, “These homeowners had a big, audacious ‘one-day’ vision – to own a home. They put in the time, energy and sacrifice necessary to make that vision a reality. We congratulate and celebrate alongside them. Now is ‘day one’ of what is possible next."
This home dedication is one of many to come and we are excited to continue building a Philadelphia where every family has a decent place to live.
