Oh hey! It’s our shop in Chestnut Hill, looking all cute and full of nice little treats! We’ve got teas, cookbooks, fun little Philly themed gifts, cocktail mixers and elegant decanters, these little jams that make it so easy to put together one bite snacks that will impress even the most impromptu guests, tea towels, fall candles (of course) and plush squirrels (not honestly sure why we have plush squirrels, except that they’re awfully cute).

Some cute snaps from around our Collingswood shop this week. Things are feeling awfully Stars Hollow here lately, and we’re very here for it! Come cross the bridge this weekend (unless you’re already in the Garden State! 🎉) and visit! Sunday is here in town (just behind our shop) - add brunch and it’s a perfect little day! Pumpkin season has arrived at the shops! We’re here for it. 🍂✨

We love summer, but we want to step outside in the morning and be like “Oop! I should probably grab a cardigan!” and we want to sip apple cider and light our favorite pumpkin candles and we just want the Phillies to get back to playing better and think about Halloween costumes and relish that special fresh pencil / first day of school feeling. It’s pumpkin season, friends!

Hi! It’s me, , in our new South Philly shop! It’s been a while since I did a little intro post, so here we go.
Occasionette all started 11 years ago, just one block south on in South Philly. We outgrew that tiny space and moved into this new location a few weeks ago (although to be honest, we really outgrew the first space years ago… but the perfect space didn’t come along until this spring!) In the decade between opening the first shop and moving into this one, we were busy!
We opened a big shop across the river in Collingswood NJ in 2017, and a beautiful little jewel of a shop in the picturesque Chestnut Hill neighborhood in 2022.
I’m the owner and creative director at Occasionette, which means I am lucky enough to work with an outstandingly talented and kind group of individuals who all work so hard to make my gift shop dreams come to life every day. I oversee our buying, marketing, and the overall brand for the shops on a day to day basis, typically from our office in the amazing a few blocks away.

✨Progress update! ✨ Our East Passyunk neighbors might have noticed some big progress outside the new location in South Philly today! Our big, beautiful new awning went up and our new planters are out! We’re still working hard to make our dream shop a reality inside, but we’re getting closer every day!
Our old spot (1825 E Passyunk) is now closed (we went out with a bang last week at the best closing sale of all time - thank you again!) but we need a bit more time before we’re set to open at 1704 E Passyunk Ave. Our Collingswood, NJ (seriously only like 17 min away by car!) and our Chestnut Hill shops are open as usual!

SOLD OUT! We fully were not anticipating that we’d be cleaned out in one day, but wow! We’re canceling Saturday’s hours for the moving sale - I really thought it would be a two day event, but there’s really not much left. You guys cleared us out! Thank you thank you thank you! Wow! Wow! Wow!

We love you so much, South Philly! Seriously, you all SHOWED UP! The line was long (it was delightful chatting with everyone!), the weather was exceedingly gorgeous, and the early birds got so many deals! You are the best.

We cannot wait to show you the new space (so soon!) and celebrate! We’re working so hard to pull it all together and will let you know as soon as we have a real opening date!

You may notice a few changes in our little shop on East Passyunk these days as we prepare to move a block away to our new location! Your last day to visit us in our original location is Wednesday May 29!

We’ll be open Saturday (10-7) and Sunday (10-5) this Memorial Day weekend, closed Monday at all three shops, then open Tuesday and Wednesday regular hours (10-7).

🎉🎉🎉We have big news! 🎉🎉🎉 After 11 lovely years in our original storefront at 1825 East Passyunk Avenue, we are moving our South Philly shop up a block to its new home at 1704 East Passyunk Avenue! We’re hoping to be open in the new location in June 2024!

✨We opened our first Occasionette at 1825 East Passyunk shop in the end of March 2013 and the shop has gone through several iterations since (and opened a few additional locations, of course!). In the early days, the original shop shared the space with my tea towel business, until I realized it needed more space and expanded the shop back for the whole length of the building. Doubling the size of the shop was so scary at the time! But we of course grew into the new space, and quite honestly we’ve been bursting at the seams in this tiny space for quite some time (anyone who has shopped here on Small Business Saturday can attest to this!)

✨So we’re just about doubling in size again - and the new space is a true beauty! With spacious tall ceilings, dreamy windows that open up allllll the way on gorgeous days, and more room for all the cards and goods and gifts you love, I cannot wait to finish making the gift shop of my dreams to share with you.

✨Yes, we have plans to make the storefront way cuter… and no, we will not be selling reptiles. 🐍🤷🏻‍♀️

✨ I’ll share more details (official opening dates, a wild, giant moving clearance sale in the old space and more!) here when we have them. In the meantime, our shop at 1825 East Passyunk is open as usual until we get closer to the actual move. 📦

How fun are our new Occasionette exclusive jotter pens? We made them in twelve colors and of course the ink color matches the barrel so they make even the most mundane list superfun! (I might be saying the best gift ever is just a dozen jotters…)
