🏀✨ TeamSnap Day at the Lace Up & Learn Up Summer Camp Series was a slam dunk for our young people! Our incredible partners at TeamSnap didn’t just show up—they showed out, bringing their A-game both on and off the court. ✨🏀
They kicked off the day by diving into gameplay, helping our campers sharpen their skills and master drills. The day culminated in the highly anticipated annual TeamSnap vs. Campers game, and while the TeamSnap crew walked away with the win, the real victory was the inspiration and knowledge they left behind.
TeamSnap also took the time to sit down with our young people, sharing insights into their careers in sports and offering a behind-the-scenes look at the exciting opportunities in the industry. They answered every question with enthusiasm, opening our campers’ eyes to the endless possibilities that lie ahead, both within and beyond the basketball court.
It’s moments like these that remind us how vital it is to expose our youth to a wide range of career paths, fueling their dreams and ambitions for the future. 🌟🚀
PYB is thrilled to have partnered with TeamSnap and Lance Lee for three amazing years, working together to create these unforgettable experiences that help shape our young people’s futures!
🎉 We are thrilled to have welcomed NBA Player Mikal Bridges to the Alan Horwitz "Sixth Man" Center! Mikal was amazing with our young campers, spending time taking pictures and signing autographs. His visit brought so much joy and inspiration to everyone involved.
How did this connection come about? Mikal's mom, Tyneeha L Rivers, firmly believes in PYB's mission and vision as she serves on our Board of Directors. Tyneeha brings an extensive professional background and has a deep passion for wellness and a love for our city, having been born and raised in West Philadelphia. Her care for young people is evident, beginning first and foremost with her son, Mikal, who was an NCAA champion with the Villanova University Wildcats and is now shining as a professional basketball player with the New York Knicks.
Thank you, Mikal, for your time and energy, and thank you, Tyneeha, for joining the PYB family! We're excited for the future and grateful for your support. 🏀❤️

He talked about his training regimen, the importance of staying focused, and how he blocks out the noise to stay at the top of his game. Thank you, Eric, for motivating the next generation with your story and passion! 🌟
The PYB family cherished the opportunity to welcome Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro to our long-coveted Sixth Man Center!
2 years ago, Josh spent quality time with our I Am Because We Are young people and toured our space when you needed imagination to see the final product. His deep appreciation for our mission, values, and impact continues to affirm and uplift our young people, our staff and board teams, and everyone who has poured into the trek of making this center a reality!
We will forever remember today’s visit from our Governor and we know our young people will too!

"Ameen Akbar wants the future generations to reap the benefits of the new building. 'I’m 46 years old,' Akbar said. 'I envision myself at 96 sitting under that rim, and having somebody say ‘I think [that] oldhead used to work here.’ That would’ve meant that we’ve been running quality programming for young people and communities for five decades.'"
