Our friends from Accenture visited Progress House this morning to talk about conflict resolution. Lots of participation around the table.

Our Indianapolis chapter had 40 walkers and runners out this morning between the three teams, including members, alumni, volunteers, staff and a pup! Thankful for water station captain Michael Burke, volunteer Suzi Worsham and the guys from the Progress House who volunteered on behalf of Back On My Feet this morning at the Indianapolis 5K and Monumental Mile. We are so happy to have you all on our team. Also great to see our friend and photographer Timmy Howard! Stay hydrated y'all.

The past couple of mornings have been EXTRA warm and humid, but we’re getting it done. Thanks for the photos Jesse and Kylie. Stay hydrated everyone.

Wheeler walkers made a pitstop at the Eiffel Tower, a 66-foot replica constructed for the Olympic Swim trials, which start on Saturday. We have friends working, volunteering, and attending. Are you going to be part of the fun?

It was a perfect night to be out with 40 of our favorite friends. Thanks to Christina, Ryan, and Mike for transporting everyone and thank you to Anna, Curt, Jeffrey and Maury for joining us. Big shout out to the Indianapolis Indians organization for the tickets and sharing your beautiful stadium with us. Hope to see y’all bright and early tomorrow morning.

INCHES TO MILES | Kan-Kan Cinema and Brasserie Inches to Miles is a new documentary by Athletic Brewing that follows three ambassadors on their road to IRONMAN® Lake Placid 2023. Through a variety of challenges, these athletes must find the courage to reach their goals through the power of community.

Big thanks to Alyssa, who serves as a Team Progress House Circle Up Volunteer, volunteers at events, attends socials, runs races with members and always finds a way to stay connected, even with her busy medical school and clinical rotation schedule. Happy National Volunteer Appreciation Month, Alyssa.

Jesse is a circle up volunteer at Team Wheeler, a regular at member and volunteer events and has also helped at water stops and packet pick up. Whenever we need help moving boxes, Jesse is there. He also served as the point person for the member gift bag project last December. There are a lot of moving pieces to keeping this organization running smoothly, and Jesse plays and integral role in many of them. Happy National Volunteer Appreciation Month, Jesse.

This beautiful Sunday is the perfect day to say thanks to one of our steady Circle Up volunteers. Not only does Jeffrey show up every Friday to meet up with Team Pathway, he is a regular presence at all of our volunteer and member/volunteer events. He steps up when we need help at water stops and other events. Thank you Jeffrey for all you do to support our Indianapolis Chapter.

Congrats to all of our Carmel Marathon finishers. Your dedication and grit paid off. What a perfect day for a race. ❤️

We couldn’t let this week close out without a big thank you to our longest serving volunteer, Maury. Maury is a Circle Up Volunteer who joins us at least twice a week at Team Wheeler. When we need help at another team, he is always the first to volunteer. We really appreciate this flexibility with our small but mighty group. Maury also runs with the Saturday runners, encouraging members to train and push themselves for half marathons and marathons. As always, we enjoyed working side-by-side with him at the most recent Polar Bear race. One of my favorite memories is from several years ago — a member was reluctant to work on a résumé. He didn’t think he could do it, even with help. Maury had a way of explaining to him why it was important and necessary. He got it done and was really proud of how great he looked on paper. Happy National Volunteer Appreciation Month, Maury. We are happy to have you on our team!

A week out from the Carmel Marathon and the Saturday team got in 8 sunny miles. Great job guys. ☀️

Closing out the week with a shout out to another amazing volunteer for National Volunteer Appreciation Month. Christina started her Back on My Feet journey four years ago and now serves as a Next Steps Mentor. She has worked with 20 men in our program to find sustainable employment and is currently matched with two additional mentees. Here she is pictured with Mike who just finished his first week at his new job. We appreciate you, Christina. ❤️

It was a great morning celebrating Chad and Richie, our culinary job training graduates. It was an honor to be part of the ceremony and to meet their families. Special thanks to Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears for his words of encouragement to the group, and to the sponsors, staff and partners who made it all possible. Richie received a certificate for knife skills and best soup and Chad earned a perfect attendance certificate. Way to go class #160!

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month. We appreciate each and every volunteer every day, but April reminds us to shout it from our FB page. Kathleen has been a Circle Up volunteer at Progress House since 2021 and also presents quarterly workshops at all 3 of our partner facilities. The link takes you to a feature on our website. Empathy in Action: Kathleen's Drive to Bridge Gaps in Addiction Solutions - Back on My Feet Experience Kathleen's inspiring shift from forensic chemist to Back on My Feet volunteer, highlighting the transformative power of compassion, community, and running in addressing homelessness and addiction.

Back on My Feet Indianapolis alumni member Timmy Howard shared the trailer from the documentary — Inches to Miles — that tells his story.

“Finding community is what saved me from a life of certain death and that theme of community is repeated all throughout the film,” says Howard. “It’s an emotional roller coaster full of heartbreaks and triumphant victories.

“Please watch the trailer and share away! My hope is that someone who is struggling just as I did will see this film and know there is hope.”

Our Saturday runners did anywhere from 10 to 23 miles this weekend. Way to go team!! You will be killing that Carmel Marathon. So proud of your dedication and grit. ❤️

Big thanks to Mike, Mike, Mike and Manny, who moved our last 20 cases from temporary storage to our new space. It’s a full house.

Perfect morning to be out at Holliday Park for the trail hike and run. We had members from teams Pathway and Progress House, along with volunteers, alumni and case managers. Thank you all for starting the day with us and for being part of our team. Shout out to Holliday Park Foundation for the invitation. Thank you for sharing your beautiful park with us.

While everyone else is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, this amazing group moved Back On My Feet gear into a new storage space with double the square footage and moved 26 cases of Brooks running shoes and gear to the new space as well. Huge shout out to Lori and Jesse for bringing their trucks. We couldn’t have done it without you. Major thanks to Brett, David, Nathan, Cody and Aaron for all the heavy lifting. ❤️
