Ami Yares is the offspring of the Jersey suburbs, raised in the echo of the Liberty Bell, only to find his voice on the shores of the Mediterranean. “Yares wields his 12-string guitar as if it were an entire orchestra, backing his vocals with a dense, rich cascade of sound " (David Foster, AXS). Influenced by his American folk music upbringing, Ami's music merges his Jersey roots with wisps of Middle Eastern culture.

Jonathan Kartman and Jim Holton
Jonathan was first inspired to play flute when he saw Jethro Tull with Ian Anderson in 1972 at the Spectrum. He majored in music at Lower Merion High School and went on to Study Jazz at Berklee College of Music. From there, he studied classical music at Philadelphia College of Music in 1981. This is there where he met Jim Holton. They were roommates on 15th, and Pine St. Jim went on to become one of the top Jazz musicians in the Philadelphia area. For Jim, music has been a career.
Jonathan decided that Jazz flute players aren’t going to make much money unless you are Hubert Laws. Although he continued to play music, he decided on a business career and started Kartman Fire Protection, servicing fire extinguishers and Fire Alarm systems. He has slowed down working in the business and now devotes his time to pursuing the music he loves: Jazz. They play Jazz standards, Latin, and pop tunes in a jazz venue format.

Thanks to the generous donation from Premium Power Wash our playground equipment was power washed and looks fantastic.

Exciting news, A timer has been installed for the Water Feature. Operating times are 11am-7pm daily, Memorial Bay to Labor Day.

The Lift Offs are an eclectic trio that draws inspiration from blues, rock and roll, country, and soul and plays a pet-friendly set guaranteed to have you all howling for more.

ATTENTION ! The tot lot and playground area will be closed Wed July 31 from 9am-4pm to power wash the playground equipment.
We will be using Simple Green so this will not harm the turf. The company is doing the project at no charge since the park qualifies for “community service policy” their company offers. Thanks to Andrew for finding the solution and managing the project.

Dozens of Philly parks are hosting free movie nights this summer and fall, featuring family-friendly favorites like The Lion King, Barbie, Back to the Future, Shrek, and more!

Movie nights begin at dusk and are BYOB (Bring Your Own Blanket). Schedules are subject to change, so please keep in touch with your local Park Friends Group for news and updates.
