As you all know, 2 months ago (today, actually) I lost my Dad suddenly and unexpectedly. I’m devastated to say, a week ago, I also lost my heart, my Jonathan. Both unexpected and sudden losses have left my world completely upside down.
Jonathan was my biggest supporter. He always listened to me talk about the bakery so intently. He loved hearing my different ideas and offering his advice on running the business as well as keeping things fun, creative and unique.

I say all this to say, for the last week I have closed off the outside world in an attempt to begin healing my very broken heart. If you reached out to order a cake and we have not yet gotten back to you please accept my apology as the rest of the Kay Kay’s staff has worked so diligently to keep us up and running forward without my presence in the store. I am back today, however, and will begin getting back to any messages and people needing responses. ♥️ Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Suddenly, this past Thursday, I (Kay) and my family, lost my Dad. To anyone whose orders were canceled, thank you for your condolences, support and understanding. We will be closing for the day Wednesday, in his honor, so anyone that knew him may attend his services. I will never be able to explain what my Dad meant to me, words would never do it justice. He was sincerely and truly the best man I’ve ever known. The thought of existing in a world where he no longer walks is too much to bear right now, and I ask for your continued patience in the near future as I navigate attempting to go back to the reality of everyday life.

If you’ve ever come into the bakery, I can almost guarantee you’ve been met with his quick wit or contagious smile while he pushed the girls out of the way to make his coffee, find a fork for his scrambled eggs and cheese or pour a cup of cranberry juice with more ice than anyone should be allowed to put in a drink. He stopped in at least once a day, after ringing my phone forcing me to ask “Eggs or Chicken Cutlets??” He never hesitated to tell me how proud he was. And if you’ve ever noticed my Inquirer article displayed proudly in a frame, know that’s only because the next day he made sure to preserve and display it for me.

Please hold your loved ones tightly and, for me, tell someone you love them today.
