The opulent and stunning "Grand Old Lady of Locust Street" was built in 1857 and has preserved her elegance, history, and mystery. She is the host of the annual Academy of Music Anniversary Concert and Ball, where the grandeur of the original chandelier and expansive marble floors are on full display at Philadelphia's only white-tie affair of the season.

City leaders make it official: Marian Anderson will be honored with a sculpture on S. Broad Street The sculpture will be sited outside of the Academy of Music, and the fund-drive to pay for the project is moving apace.
