VOTER INFORMATION:
Over the next several weeks leading up to the November 5, 2024, General Election we will be posting voter information regarding Voter Registration, Vote by Mail ballots, Early Voting, etc. This post is regarding OPTING-OUT of the Vote-by-Mail program.

Pertinent Information: There will be three ways to vote in the upcoming election:

⚠Vote on November 5 at your assigned polling location.

⚠The in-person Early Voting period on a voting machine, which begins Saturday, October 26, 2024, and runs through Sunday, November 3, 2024. Early voting locations are NOT at your regular voting location. You can find the three regional locations, as well as the hours on our website: https://www.warrencountyvotes.com/

⚠Through our Vote-by-Mail program, which you must apply for in order to receive.

If you are a vote-by-mail voter, you cannot vote on a voting machine either during the early voting period or on Election Day. So, IF you are currently signed up to receive a Vote by Mail Ballot for all elections and NO LONGER wish to do so in order to take advantage of the other two ways to vote, please follow the link below to our Opt-Out form. The form has to be signed and snail-mailed back to us. By law we can’t accept electronic versions. If you are unable to print off the internet, please give us a call at 908-475-6211 and we will be happy to mail the form to you. We MUST receive this form by August 26th in order to remove you from the Vote by Mail program.

If you are enrolled in the program, and want to stay that way, you don’t need to do anything. Your ballot will be mailed out no later than September 20th.

Good afternoon Phillipsburg Residents! Today, I signed my forms officially declaring my candidacy for Phillipsburg Board of Education for 3 years and as I turned in my nomination forms to the Warren County Clerks office, I accept the nomination for Phillipsburg Board of Education for the 2nd time.

I will work hard for our children and Community.

And in November, we will make history as the first PHS Alumni who graduated Phillipsburg High school in 2022 and attends Warren County Community College to be elected on the board. Few moments ago I congratulated Javier Rojas on winning for re-election for Phillipsburg School board of education. I hope that he will be a successful school board representative for all of our children and community! This is not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for and I’m sorry that we did not win this election for the goals that I’ve made and the dreams that I’ve shared for all of you but I feel pride and gratitude for this wonderful campaign that we built together for the last 3 months! Now it’s time for me to work on my studies and succeed in my career at my college! Thank you for the support that you guys gave me because I know it’s been a long long long stressful campaign but I am bless that I ran for school board for the first time and now it’s time to think about running again in November of 2024! Hi my name is Shaheed Barnes, and I am running to be your next school board representative for Phillipsburg School District, here’s a little background information about me, I was born and raised in Plainfield NJ and I moved to the great town of Phillipsburg the start of my 8th grade year (2018). I have a mom who is a nurse and a sister who recently graduated from Phillipsburg High school (2023) and now attends to a beauty school (Empire)! I’ve graduated from Phillipsburg High school (2022) and now I’m attending Warren County Community College to finish my degree and transfer to a 4-year university, my major for Warren County Community College is Special Education. During my high school years I participated in sports such as the Phillipsburg High School Marching Band, Swimming, Tennis & Track! I’ve been living in Phillipsburg for about 5 years about to be 6 soon.

Why do I want to run for school board:

I want to run because I am confident that I will be a great representative for the town of Phillipsburg and to the school board. As mentioned that I was in the Phillipsburg High School Marching Band I was on council for 1 year and I was a big responsibility to the Marching Band and staff! Being on the school board is a big responsibility for myself and the town! If elected my goal on my agenda is to put students first as you can tell as my slogan for my campaign and most importantly stop the bullying/fighting in our public schools. I’ve witnessed that bullying and fighting has been an issue in the public school system that our staff has to deal with, and it’s a distraction for our kids and their educational needs. I’ve been bullied many times though out my high, middle school years and I feel like bullying needs to be stopped and addressed properly. If someone is being bullied or harassed I would like to add some support groups in our district by adding some more counselors because I truly think our students deserve the best help that they can get. Also, I’ve witnessed that there isn’t enough activities outside our district so if elected I would like to work with the Mayor, Town Council and board members by adding some activities outside of our district, so our kids can socialize with other kids, so they can not get in trouble. I would like to work with my fellow board members if elected by passing a bill into adding some more technical classes in the high school building so our student’s can learn more stuff like trade school, so they can get the best experience that they can get. School Safety to and from school in my knowledge is the most important thing that the community is facing right now. If elected I would like to work with the town officials by adding some more police officers and crossing guards in the town of Phillipsburg because it has been reports that our students is fighting other students and bullying them for no reason or cause, and they are damaging other peoples property so let’s add some more crossing guards and officers in our town, so our students don’t get hurt and they can make the best decision-making. As promised I will keep your taxes lower in our district! And finally let’s put mental health first because like I mention before our students is the most important thing in the world, and they need the best support system that they can get.

As a candidate to the school board I won’t put politics over our students and I won’t let you down! I will be the first ever person that is 19 years old that attends Warren County Community College that has a learning disability to ever be seated on the board, and hopefully I won’t be the last! I’m that candidate who will take any questions and won’t ignore it & I’m that person who is fit for the job! Phillipsburg is my home and as a Stateliner alumni I will make you proud! Phillipsburg community & school board members Please elect Shaheed Barnes for Phillipsburg board of education on November 7th, so we can put our students first & make history together.

Today is the final day to request a Vote by Mail ballot, in person only. We must receive your application or request for a duplicate ballot (envelopes, etc.), BEFORE 3pm Monday November 6th! Please contact our office if you have any questions at 908-475-6211.

All Vote by Mail ballots must be received or placed in a ballot box no later than 8pm on Election Day, Tuesday November 7, 2023.

If you take your ballot to the post office, it must be stamped 11/7/2023 in order to be accepted by the Board of Elections.

While canvassing in the Hillcrest Blvd/ Lincoln Rd area I got stopped by a supporter with his daughter! Thank you for choosing me to be your next representative!! We must win this fight together for our kids and community! Tuesday is Election Day polls will be open from 6AM to 8PM!
