📢 Southwest Center Receives Grant from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to Expand HIV Prevention Services.

This grant will help enhance Southwest Center’s integrated healthcare model and allow for the continuation and expansion of Aunt Rita's Foundation HIV At-Home Testing Kit Program for the next five years, therefore supporting the Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative.

🥵 This past June was the hottest June in Phoenix on record! Beat the summer heat with Southwest Center's newest event: Stay Cool & Know Your Status.

This monthly event will run from July through October to help ensure our community has a place to cool down as well as receive no-cost HIV testing and access to our health education and resources.

"In 2022, Arizona reported a 20% increase in new HIV cases. According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, more than 40% of the 975 new HIV cases in the state were Hispanic patients.

HIV can affect anyone regardless of sexual orientation, race, ethnicity or gender. However, research shows stigma and language barriers are keeping Hispanic and Latino men from seeking HIV care."

Eric Morales, Southwest Center's Development Manager, was recently interviewed about rising HIV cases in Maricopa County and how our community can combat the HIV epidemic. Read the entire article below!

Phoenix pushing for more outreach with rise in cases of HIV in Hispanic, Latino men Research shows stigma and language barriers are keeping Hispanic and Latino men from seeking HIV care.
