FRIDA | Join us every first Friday of the month to discover fascinating facts about Frida Kahlo's life and legacy.
In 1925, at just 18 years old, Frida was involved in a life-altering bus accident. Her injuries were so severe that she had to undergo more than 30 medical operations throughout her life. It was during her long and arduous recovery that Frida taught herself to paint.
In 1926, she created her first self-portrait, wearing a velvet dress. This abstract painting showcases her interest in naturalism, evident in the soft modeling of her face. The elongated neck and fingers also reveal her fascination with the Mannerist painter Il Bronzino.
Tickets for Frida are on sale NOW! Secure your before they sell out. 🎟️

SWAN LAKE | The famous ballet premiered on March 4, 1877, at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. This was the first major ballet score composed by Tchaikovsky, who also composed The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty.
Despite a rocky start, the ballet gained popularity with a new version in 1880. All 33 performances between 1877-1883 sold out, increasing the popularity among audiences.
Today, Swan Lake stands as one of the greatest classics of all time. We are thrilled for Ib Andersen's Swan Lake to return to Symphony Hall this October. 🦢
