Hi folks
Typically, at this time of the year, we hold a practice at the patch for anyone from Arizona who is going up to champs. Is anyone interested in doing that on Tuesday, September 17? We could set up the finals course from last year‘s champs that was out in the East Coast or one of the other courses. Anyone from Arizona who’s going to champs is welcome to come. We charge five dollars a dog to help cover the cost of the lights
Let me know. We probably start around 6:30. And everyone should probably get two runs in.
Class applications are now open for Session 1 2024-2025. https://www.jumpingchollas.com/application-forms. Classes start the week of Sept. 23rd

Hello JCAC Members!
Jumping Chollas is moving in a new direction for the 2024-2025 agility year: Committees!
We are offering club members a way to get more involved with the responsibilities of running a club the size of Jumping Chollas. We have six committee opportunities at this time:
Patch Property Maintenance Committee
Patch Equipment/Trailer Maintenance Committee
Student Equipment Committee
Patch Rental Committee
News & Education Committee
Holiday Party & Year-end Awards Committee
Each Committee will have a "Lead" position with the following responsibilities:
Report directly to President
Organize duties assignments with members
Oversee committee duties are being completed
Recruit new committee members as needed
Members will be signing up for a committee, rather than a specific duty within the committee. Duty assignments will be decided as a group by the Committee Lead and Committee Members. Committee Lead can be a volunteer from the list of members that sign up for that committee. JCAC President will assign a Committee Lead if there is no volunteer.
Each committee has a Member Count, which is an estimated number of members needed to complete the duties for that committee. Committees can decide if more members are needed to accomplish the duties within that committee.
Blank yellow rows under "Member count" are available for member sign-up. Please use the link below to sign-up for a committee that interests you:

I don't think any other class is having as much fun as the Juniors Handlers! It is so amazing to watch them grow and continue to bond deeper with their dogs out on the Agility field! Session 4 here they come 💪💪🐾🐾🐶
Day 3, bright and sunny and lots of agility runs. We find Liz in her Irish Green with her black and white pup, Ricco standing by. Sue Boe is hard at work as Show Secretary.
Day 2 of the Jumping Chollas trial, and we find "The Gathering" of agility handlers getting the briefing of the day from Jared Gibson.
Friday weather was brutal with rain, wind and cold, and while the dogs liked it, the humans not so much.
Saturday was bright and sunny and all went well, thanks to the many volunteers that helped to make the trial run smoothly. Thank you!
What a beautiful sky to train with!
A reminder that Jumping Chollas has their monthly meeting on Sunday, March 10, 6:00 pm at the Patch.
See you there.

Thank you Linda Jacobs! Linda was presented with the "Above and Beyond" award for her continued support and commitment to the Jumping Chollas Agility Club, going the extra mile to see that everything was done and done well! Her work was behind the scenes and most members didn't even know about it, but those things kept the club working smoothly. Great job Linda....
Here are a few pictures from the JCAC Open House with more still to come.
A HIGH FIVE to all of those who attended the JCAC Open House today! We welcomed about 60 people who came , stayed, visited, had some lunch and dessert and enjoyed the weather as well as the people. I was very nervous that we would not have a good turnout, but so many thanks to those who did, including a woman who was in the original group in 1993, and a woman who cried because she was able to see friends from 30 years ago and be a part of the group.
You are a wonderful group of people and your attendance was more than appreciated! Now on to the next set of years!
Pictures will follow tomorrow!!

BEGINNER 2 and NOVICE classes canceled tonight BEGINNER 1 and Advanced still on!
It looks like we should be able to hold the beginner one class on the Southfield and the advanced class on the Northfield tonight before the rains come. So that you know well in advance, it is most likely to be raining when beginner two and novice class are supposed to be held so we are going to cancel those two for tonight.
And once again, if you have not yet signed up for classes and are planning to do so, I would greatly appreciate it if all class sign-up were completed by this Saturday.
UPDATE for February NADAC show...Friday and Saturday are full! There are 27 runs available for Sunday...that's it! There is a waitlist of 4 dogs so far for Friday. Yes another show with over 1300 runs!!! Yowza!
Ann Marie Goldhammer asked that these two opportunities be passed along!
For those thinking about entering the JCAC NADAC trial Feb 16-18...Friday is FULL! And Saturday and Sunday have around 50 runs left each...so if you were thinking of entering...best do it now!
Greetings all
I gather from the emails I have received today ( starting early this morning) that the majority of you have already made the choice that you want to stay home tonight and not come to a class. That’s fine…your choice. I asked Rory whether she would stop by the patch and check it out on her way home today. The attached pictures show that the South field really is not usable. But the North field is definitely usable with no water except in the normal far west corner. So there will not be any intermediate two or intermediate three classes because the standing water in the middle is just too great. For those who have advanced class on Tuesday night and those who had advanced class last night and missed it because of the rain, I am going to be at the patch at 6:30 and will stay there until 730 or so. If you’re in either of tonight‘s advanced classes, and would like to do the advanced exercises, please email me as soon as possible and let me know so I have some idea if anyone is going to be coming. Aside from that, the field should be fine for tomorrow morning and the rest of the week for classes. We needed the rain and there’s no arguing with mother nature as these things happen. Next week will be the last week of classes for the session then we take a week off and we start session 3 the week after that.
Mark your calendars for the Jumping Chollas OPEN HOUSE celebrating 30 years of training in the agility community. Anyone who has been a part of JCAC in the past 30 years is invited, so please tell your friends to come and join in the festivities and catered food!
