YNPN Phoenix

YNPN Phoenix (www.ynpnphoenix.org) is a professional development and social networking organization for young nonprofit professionals in Metro Phoenix.

We are helping make our community healthy and vibrant.

🌟New blog alert!!🌟

"Nonprofits rely on the community's trust to thrive and achieve their goals as well as to remain relevant to the community, donors, and other stakeholders. Instead of focusing on reaching specific numbers, professionalizing nonprofit organizations involves adopting business-like practices to ensure the organization can effectively pursue its mission...To professionalize their staff, nonprofit organizations can provide ongoing training and networking opportunities and promote a culture that reflects the nature of the organization. "

Take a few minutes to read board member Kari Barber's insightful post and dive deep into what 'professionalizing' means for the sector.🤓

🌟 We're still accepting applications!🌟

YNPN Phoenix is excited to share that applications for the biggest event of the year are now open!

LINK brings together hundreds of young professionals at a pitching competition as 6-8 speakers compete for a cash prize for their charity of choice. Through popular vote and panel selection, the 2 best speakers are awarded a cash prize to advance the work of their selected organization.

Presenters will have 5 minutes each to pitch their cause to an audience of community members and peers for a chance to win up to $1,000 for their organization. That's right — $1,000 for anything your charitable cause needs, unrestricted! YNPN Phoenix offers support and coaching to the finalists as they approach pitch day.

Here's how it works:

1) Apply by August 23, 2024. Apply here: https://zurl.co/ywv1

2) Interviews of all applicants will happen August 26 -30, 2024. You must be available to interview remotely for 30 minutes. A detailed timeline of important dates is provided below.

3) Patiently wait until September 2, 2024 for YNPN Phoenix to inform all applicants if they were selected as a finalist.

4) If chosen as a finalist, you'll participate in one coaching session as a group and have an optional (but HIGHLY recommended) one-on-one coaching session with a former finalist of LINK. A detailed timeline is below.

📣 Blog announcement!!

"June is a time of celebration, with streets adorned with flags of various colors and symbols, companies displaying rainbow versions of their logos, and shops and restaurants offering special product packaging, sometimes even granting employees a day off.
..while it may feel like celebration and recognition are abundant during the sixth month of the year, it's important to recognize that it's not enough. When July 1 arrives, flags come down, logos return to their standard branding, and "Pride Specials" disappear from shelves. To truly honor the brave individuals who made sacrifices and to move towards a more equitable future, inclusivity must be a year-round commitment."

Make sure you take a couple of minutes to read board member Taylor Schulte's blog post, and explore some ways to recognize diversity all year long!🫶
