Ending poverty, one community at a time, in the world's hardest places.
After making the tough decision to work far from home to support his family, Mr. Thorn Sothonn faced a heartbreaking setback when his employer refused to pay him fairly. Unsure of how he would provide for his loved ones, he returned home with little hope.
But through Food for the Hungry’s training programs, Thorn found a new path. He started a garden to feed his family and turned the surplus into a small business. Today, he’s not only providing for his family but also building a brighter future.
Listen to his powerful story and see how FH’s programs are transforming lives and communities. 🌱💪
In the heart of Tanore, Bangladesh, a 6-year old boy named Nahid faced a future shrouded in uncertainty. Nahid's lack of knowledge made him an outcast among his peers, who found him uninteresting to play with. His appearance was unkempt, and he had no concept of proper handwashing, using a latrine, or maintaining hygiene. Unhealthy street food contributed to frequent bouts of diarrhea and stomach pain, rendering him physically frail and unwell. He struggled to communicate with both strangers and family, leaving him constantly despondent.
📚 But everything changed when his parents enrolled him in the local Early Year Child Development Center (ECDC).
⭐️ Today, Nahid is unrecognizable from the boy he once was. He's a shining example of the life-changing impact of education and community support. From learning to read and write to mastering hygiene and communication, Nahid is now one of the brightest students in his class, full of dreams and determination to uplift his family and community.
💚 This is more than just a success story—it's a testament to the power of transformation. Nahid's journey from darkness to light shows how even the smallest spark of opportunity can ignite a lifetime of potential.
Join us in celebrating Nahid's incredible journey and the vital role education plays in breaking the cycle of poverty. Together, we can create more stories like Nahid's, one child at a time.

Food for the Hungry has a unique approach to entering communities. We walk with the people there until they are self-sustaining and no longer need us. The community graduates, and we exit. It's a beautiful thing to see unfold. 🫶🏼
"Everybody can be great… because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love." - Dr. Martin Luther King

Savty’s community in Cambodia used to have a lot of problems, including a noticeable lack of hygiene. Her family and their neighbors did not know about the importance of sanitizing water, washing hands, or doing the dishes. But thanks to donors like you, FH staff members were able to walk with community leaders and start changing this through training programs.
As a result, families wash their dishes, purify their water, and properly wash their hands.
This is Chita. She is 8 years old and lives in Cambodia.
We gave her a camera and asked her to take a picture of what she finds beautiful in the world. Chita decided to take a picture of the “kontout” fruit tree.
She said, “I photographed this tree because the fruit tastes very good. Sweet and sour. I like them.” 📸
Let’s not forget the beauty that surrounds us everyday. Let’s see the world like Chita does.

Did you know some species of mosquitoes can breed in as little water as you would find in the imprint of a horse's hoof? It's scary to think how exposed some areas can be. FH works with families to put simple, life-saving measures into action. 🫶🏼
