Kona coffee is grown and harvested in a very unique way, and a lot of it has to do with location! This temperamental bean requires a very specific combination of sun, rain, and frost free temperatures.
The perfect place to grow it? Hawaii of course! On the west coast of The Big Island, the plants thrive on the volcanic lava rock slopes of Kona.
The labor required to harvest these beans is much more intensive than other coffee cultivation. For 6 months of the year, the workers meticulously handpick the beans to ensure they are ripe and ready to go.
The end product is an amazing in flavor and a great boost for the day!
