Pike County Animal Shelter - KY

Thank everyone so much for coming out and adopting today! We seldom get to have Saturday events and we’re so blessed to have one today. We adopted out 20 dogs and 17 cats. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and seeing some of the same ones that come and see us at almost every event. Everyone please share pictures of your new babies whenever you have the opportunity.
The photo below is a very sweet lady who has been coming to the shelter for the past two weeks or more to visit with this little female puppy that she named Bambi. Today she got to take her home. It was a joy to see her face as she got to hug her and walk away with her. We know Bambi will be so loved!

Meet Sissy and Joe. Sissy is 6 years old and weighs 20 pounds. Joe is 5 years old and weighs 13 pounds. They are Yorkshire Terrier mixes. They have the same mother and have been together forever! They are also SUPER friendly. Sissy and Joe will be with us Saturday at the “Clear the Shelters Event” at PetCo….Pikeville, KY. We will be there from 10 am to 4 pm.
SISSY and JOE “MUST” BE ADOPTED TOGETHER!! And must be inside babies!

Hi, meet Blaze! Blaze is a male pit bull mix who is around 1-2 years old. He's already been neutered! Blaze came to us emaciated at only 25 lbs he also had mange and a skin infection. He required medication and weekly medicated baths. He looks so good and is feeling a lot better! Blaze is now 39 lbs! Blaze has had such a hard life and deserves a home where he'll be loved for the rest of his life.
Blaze loves everyone he meets. His tail can't stop wagging. I haven't got to dog test him yet, but will be one day this week coming. I'm about positive he will he wonderful with other dogs because he's just so happy and sweet.

Meet Yonkers and Bronx. They are both around 2-3 years old, male shepherd mixes. They have already been neutered as well.
These boys are brothers and were found on top of the airport mountain back in June. They are such sweet boys who deserve a home to call their own. They love all people and other dogs! If you think one of these boys or even both would be a good addition to your family come and meet them!

We have these beautiful puppies ready for their new home! Those who don't have if they are altered will be getting altered tomorrow!

Hi, meet Aries! Aries is a male lab mix ? who is around 2-3 years old and hes already been neutered. Aries is protective of his kennel at first, but once you get him out of the adoption area and outside he opens up so he needs someone to be patient with him. Once he is outside he is a good dog. Aries has been with us for about 5 months and no one has give him a chance because the way he first acts when you meet him. Aries has been through tough times you can just tell by his personality. His heart has been broken many times and we are really hoping someone can give him a chance. We can get him out and let him get to know you out in the yard so you see he is really a good boy.

Hi, meet Trinity! Trinity is a female mali/Shep mix? who is around 4-5 years old, and she's already been spayed. Trinity is a sweet girl who loves other dogs and people. Her and Nevan both came from the top of a mountain. We suspect Trinity is Nevans' mom. They love each other so much. Trinity is a big girl she is also over 80 lbs! Trinitys breed isn't for everyone, so please do your research on her breeds. Trinity absolutely loves treats, so bring a bunch. You're sure to win her heart over.

Hi, meet Zara. Zara is a female lab mix she's around 2 years old. Zara has already been spayed. Zara is such a sweet girl who came to the shelter with a serious foot injury. We suspect her paw may have been caught in a claw trap.. But that didn't stop her from finding a wonderful person who wanted to get her help and got her to us, where she required surgery to have 2 of her toes removed. Despite her injury, which is now healed, this doesn't slow her down. Zara loves all people and other dogs. If you're interested in Zara, come by and meet her.

Hi, meet Lewis. Lewis is a male hound/lab mix ? He's around 2 years old. He is already neutered. Lewis is such a sweet, playful boy who loves all people and other dogs. Lewis will not use the bathroom in his kennel as long as he's taken outside to potty frequently. Lewis would be perfect for any family. If you're interested in Lewis, come by and meet him!

Hi, meet DeLorean. Delorean is a female lab mix around 8 months old. She has already been spayed. Delorean completely shut down when she arrived at the shelter, but she's opened up a ton with the help of some of the other dogs outside of the kennel. Delorean is a shy but sweet girl who would do wonderful with another dog in the home. If you're interested in her, please come by and meet her!

Hey y'all heres a pupdate! Do y'all our remember our blind dog, Moondog AKA Moon? People said he'd never get adopted because he's considered a special needs dog - blind. But despite his disability that doesn't slow Moon down!
Look at Moon now, he's living his best life!
We would like to say thank you to Moons adoptive family for giving this sweet gentle boy a chance!
