After having labs for many years, you come to realize that dogs are truly man's best friend. However, you also discover that labs have a second best friend — any body of water that is cold, full of mud, and seemingly impossible to rid of the swamp smell from their coat after they jump in. Makes for a great picture though.

What a beautiful fall it was in the mountains! I haven't posted as much on social media, but I've certainly been out photographing and enjoying the vibrant colors as much as I can. I love this transition into winter and I will be sharing some images over the next couple of weeks!

More often than not, when the sky lights up like this, I find myself in a grocery store parking lot...with no camera! By the time I rush home, the light has faded. Fortunately, for this one, I was on the coast of North Carolina. It was hard to beat.

Almost time for these guys to return! Nothing reminds me more of summer then hummers. I read something recently about how migrating birds are drastically affected by outdoor night lights. So if you think of it, switch off those porch lights as we finish migration season.
