We wanted to take a moment to introduce our Community Outreach Manager properly!

You may know Andrew from our Instagam reels or one of our group runs, but did you know that he lived in Belgium and speaks Dutch?

Along with a passion for running and walking, Andrew brings 4 years of experience working as a marketing project manager to Fleet Feet Pittsburgh.

In addition to distance running, Andrew is an avid sports fan himself. Reflecting his time spent in Pittsburgh and Belgium, his two favorite sports to watch are American football and cycling.

Be sure to say hello (or “hallo”) to Andrew when you see him around! You can usually find him training in Schenley Park, on a group run, at a race or representing Fleet Feet Pittsburgh in the community! Quick word of warning... you may have to say hello twice if his pre-race playlist of rock music is too loud.

If you have not met Ben at our Bakery Square store, perhaps you have seen him on the trails in Frick Park or on the track at Schenley Park.

A member of Pitt’s Club XC team, Ben brings a passion for the sport running to his fittings at Fleet Feet Pittsburgh. A specialist in the middle-distances, Ben’s favorite race distance is the 800m. This past March, Ben raced that distance at the Armory in New York City.

(And... he was cool enough to meet Cole Hocker in Eugene, Oregon!)

Outside of Ben’s running, he is a rising sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh studying neuroscience.

A key component of distance running training is to complete tempo runs. Put simply, these “comfortably uncomfortable” runs help to build speed and endurance. Done at 80-90% of your max effort, these workouts can be completed a few different ways.
