Last night, our OKC site had their new Underground blessed by the archbishop, and we celebrated with mass and a dinner. We are very grateful for those who put their time, talent, and treasure into this renovated space!

Today we celebrate another one of our patron saints, Peter Claver! He cared for the slaves immediately after they disembarked the ship at Cartagena. St. Peter Claver is called, “the slave of the slaves” for this. He treated everyone as his neighbor and walked the walk of what the Gospel says to do. SPC, pray for us!

Today we hear from a former missionary, Jack! He served for two years: one in Steubenville and one in Wichita. Jack’s time with Vagabond helped form him into the high school theology teacher that he is today😎📚💥

It’s Mother Teresa’s feast day🎉💙! This woman knew how important prayer was for service. She models the active contemplative spirituality so beautifully for us, responding to Christ’s cry of thirst for each person. St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us!

The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few! We need more people working for the Kingdom. Every day, our missionaries seek out those who are “sheep without a shepherd” to share the Gospel with and give them hope. If you want to join the laborers at Vagabond, send us a message!

“Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness. At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned,* like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.’”

Take Christ’s lead and put that faith into action! Comfort a friend in need, give the hungry some food… the options are endless! Remember, as Christians we are in the world and not of it.

Happy feast day of St. Monica 🎉 This lady is an inspiration to many because she spent 17 years praying for her troublemaker son (St. Augustine) to be converted. We can ask for her help when we wait for God to grant us our desires, and in the meantime trust that God’s timing is the best timing❤️

🎤Conference trip recap!! Our OKC site took their teens to Steubenville Mid-America last month and had a fabulous time. Before the big event, they adventured at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. Then, they drove to Springfield, MO where even more cool stuff awaited them. Daniel, an OKC missionary, reported that most of the teens resonated with the conference and some even mentioned tearing up. A handful of them went to confession for the first time in a long time. Daniel accompanied them in line as they inquired more about the sacrament. One incoming 8th grader in particular, Arthur, hung out with some rising seniors and recent graduates who seemed to bring out the best in him. Arthur stretched himself out of his comfort zone as he appeared to look up to them and learn from them. The missionaries are excited to walk with Arthur and the other teens in this upcoming school year!

Our Wichita site hosted three interns this summer and they had an amazing experience⛹️‍♂️📚🤩 They got to be a part of everything mission related for five weeks, including:

While most of our sites were living it up at , our Wichita and OKC ones were settling back in after a week at 🏕️🕺💃⛪️. Today, we hear from Sa’Maiyanna, a Wichita teen, who experienced camp at the Pines for the very first time. Thank you for having us at the end of June and providing an environment for our teens to encounter the Lord🤗

We are READY for more 😊 smiles and ✌️ peace signs this summer! At an amazing week out of the city, filled with fun activities, incredible prayer time, and great food? Sounds like SUMMER CAMP is approaching!!!

How do our teens from various urban communities, unfamiliar with the Church, have a deep encounter with the transformative love of Jesus? For a lot of our teens, it begins at summer camp. Many of the teens with Vagabond Missions attribute part of their conversion story to an experience at camp.

We at Vagabond believe no saint is boring. Through communal and individual prayer, as well as through outreach and ministry - we are transformed and sent out every day into the adventure around us. We get to radically strive for the greatness God made us for.

Wondering what it’s like to be utterly dependent on the Lord as you are sent forth by Him? We might be the ministry for you. Come and see ❤️

You were made for more than a large salary. You were made to inherit the richness of God’s blessings. You were made for richness in the Lord. You were made for the adventure He has in store for you. You were made to be countercultural and invest in Heaven rather than what is right now. You were made to be a libation poured out in radical love.

There are many parables and stories in Scripture of the people rich in worldly ways who often walk away from God sad and unfulfilled. They were so focused on their things and their wealth, and tried to convince themselves that was what they were made for. Their richness in the things of this world left them empty and alone, without the richness of the Lord. The actions of the woman willing to pour out her most costly oil in the presence of Jesus was looked at in the worldly sense as a “waste,” yet Jesus recognized and honored her willingness to spend it all on Him.

We at Vagabond have the opportunity to turn away from the false promises of this world and the allure of material wealth, and instead pursue the richness of the Lord. Our call as missionaries is one of solidarity with those who often lack material prosperity. In our solidarity, we experience the Lord hearing the cry of the poor - dependent on Him and the promise of Heaven. We get to spend our very lives on Him.
