Have you ever wondered what a "platform" is in politics?
Platforms are a set of promises and ideas that a political party or candidate shares with voters. It outlines their beliefs, goals, and plans for making change in a district, county, state, or country. Platforms are a guide that help voters understand what a political group stands for and what changes they want to bring about if they are elected.
We're back with another ! Today we are talking about Special elections. In Pennsylvania, special elections provide voters with the opportunity to shape their representation outside the regular election cycle. These elections typically occur to fill vacant seats in the state legislature or Congress due to unforeseen circumstances like resignations or deaths. The outcomes of these elections often carry broader implications, offering insights into shifting political dynamics and priorities within the state.
Time for another ! Today's voter vocab is "general elections"! ๐บ๐ธ
In a general election, voters decide on candidates for offices such as the President and Vice President of the United States, members of the U.S. House of Representatives, and other federal offices. Additionally, Pennsylvania voters choose candidates for statewide positions, such as the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and other state offices. Local elections for county and municipal offices may also coincide with the general election.
Have you ever wondered about the differences between state and federal legislation? Swipe for an educational journey through the legal landscape and learn about the distinctions that shape our laws at different levels! ๐๏ธ๐บ๐ธ
Primary elections are the truest testament to democracy.Pennsylvania is a closed primary state. Voters get to choose who they want to lead their affiliated party into the general election. Here's how it works โ
We want to give thanks to all of the people who continue to uplift and support our organization. Without you, we are nothing. Without your active voting participation in democracy, change doesn't come. Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving from the VEEEM team!
