September is Su***de Awareness Month. This month we want to raise awareness of the leading cause of preventable death and promote a discussion of hope for those who feel like they are struggling alone.

One of the side effects of s*xual abuse is feeling as if life is hopeless and out of your control. Remember that these feelings are normal, but there are always ways to heal.

If you or a loved one are feeling suicidal, reach out by calling the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline at 988. To get help with processing trauma related to s*xual violence, no matter how long ago it was, we also encourage calling the PAAR Helpline at 1-866-END-RAPE

Your mind is powerful. You know best for you. As you go back to school it's important to remember the most important relationship you have is with yourself.

Maintaining your needs in other relationships is key to preserving your needs, goals, feelings, and values. Setting boundaries with those you care about can feel very intimidating when you are not used to advocating for your needs, but it is not wrong to speak up for yourself! Make sure you are creating healthy relationships by setting boundaries.

🌟 Happy International Self Care Day! 🌟

We believe in the power of self-care as a vital part of healing and empowerment. Today, let's take a moment to focus on ourselves and nurture our well-being.

💙 Self-care isn't selfish; it's essential. Whether it's taking a walk in nature, practicing mindfulness, reading a good book, or simply taking a moment to breathe deeply, self-care helps us recharge and build resilience.

🌸 To all survivors and supporters, remember that your well-being matters. Prioritize yourself today and every day. Share your favorite self-care practices with us in the comments and scroll through the images for some mindfulness exercises!

Street harassment, including catcalling, is an everyday reality for many people and it’s important to recognize it as a form of s*xual violence.

Catcalling refers to unsolicited comments, whistles, or gestures typically made in public spaces, often of a s*xual nature. It's not a compliment—it's harassment.

Why is Catcalling Harmful?

🔷Violates Personal Boundaries: It makes individuals feel unsafe and disrespected in public spaces.
🔷Promotes a Culture of Disrespect: It normalizes objectifying and demeaning behavior.
🔷Impacts Mental Health: Repeated exposure to such harassment can lead to anxiety, depression, and reduced sense of safety.

Help us raise awareness. Share information and educate others about the impact of street harassment.

If you or someone you know is affected by street harassment, PAAR offers support and resources. We are always available 24/7 at 1-866-363-7273.
