The Borough of Avalon currently has (1) vacancy on the Joint Planning Commission. The Borough Council is accepting letters of interest from qualified Avalon residents to serve a three (3) year term that will end December 31, 2027. Interested candidates should submit a completed vacancy application (available at www.boroughofavalon.org) along with a letter of interest and current resume to the Borough Manager via email ([email protected]), mail, or personal delivery to the Avalon Borough Building, 640 California Avenue, Avalon, PA 15202 on or before 4:00 pm, Monday, August 12, 2024.

The Avalon Borough Administrative Office will be closed on Friday, July 5, 2024. The Office will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday, July 8, 2024.

The Department of Public Works crew will be available during the hours of 7:30 am - 3:30 pm on Friday, July 5, 2024. STREET SWEEPING WILL OCCUR AS REGULARLY SCHEDULED. Please move your vehicles in accordance with the posted signs to avoid a ticket. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Borough Administrative Office, the Police Administrative Office, and the Department of Public Works will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in honor of Independence Day. If you need immediate assistance, please call 9-1-1. The Avalon Police Department is always happy to help.

Due to the extreme heat and high temperatures forecasted for Thursday, June 20, 2024, Waste Management will begin trash collection in Avalon at 5:00 a.m., rather than the usual start time of 6:00 a.m. Please make sure that all trash is curbside prior to 5:00 a.m.

The cost for registrations submitted from March 9, 2024, through March 15, 2024, is $3/participant. Payment can be made at the Borough Administration Office, 640 California Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15202 during regular business hours throughout the week, or the registration fee can be paid on the day of the event.

Event day registration costs $5/participant.

Drop off your Christmas tree today through Jan. 14th, from 8am until dusk at all nine county parks. 🎄

All lights, decorations, tinsel, and stands must be removed from trees before drop-off.
