Calliope: The Pittsburgh Folk Music Society

Calliope is a nonprofit organization that promotes and preserves traditional and contemporary folk music.

Calliope presents concerts, operates the Calliope School of Folk Music, and conducts a free educational outreach program for kids ages K-12. We have free community jams and events, and our other concerts cost from $12-$38, with special student rates ranging from $10-$20. Our concerts feature both outstanding local bands and national acts. This is a kick-off to a series of "The Wheel of the Year" song and music Zoom workshops with Ruthanne E. Ankeny!

Celebrate Autumn in all her glory with beautiful traditional songs and music. Ruthanne will lead songs for the Autumn Season, Harvest, and Samhain. This is a great chance to learn songs associated with Autumn Folklore in a super friendly and fun atmosphere.

We're thrilled to announce that we will be presenting one of our favorite bands, Smokestack Lighting, on Thursday, October 26th, at The Roots Cellar! 7pm. This will be a fundraiser for Calliope and will certainly be a good time.

We couldn't be more excited about returning to The Marshall Building (the yellow mansion on the corner of Fifth and Shady Aves in Shadyside). Many of you know we've presented music in that space for years, so we're quite excited for this special concert.
