BHDP’s "How It's Made" series kicked off last month with a group of employees donning their hard hats to explore Timberlab's new 75,000-SF East Coast mass timber and fabrication facility in Greenville, SC. Co-hosted with Swinerton, the grand opening event featured full-scale timber mock-ups, CNC demonstrations, and an overview of Timberlab’s regional sourcing methods.
From cars to food and pharmaceuticals, our "How It's Made" series allows our employees to get a behind-the-scenes look at the magic of manufacturing. This visit provided our team with a unique opportunity to see how raw materials are transformed into finished products like mass timber.
Mass timber, created by bonding pieces of softwood like pine, spruce, or fir (and occasionally deciduous species like birch, ash, and beech), is gaining traction among our clients. Learning about the planning, design, detailing, and construction of mass timber buildings equips us to guide our clients with best practices and innovative applications.
Stay tuned for future events where we learn “How It’s Made.”
Help us celebrate the recent advancements and professional growth of four of our talented BHDP team members!
A huge congratulations to Brittany Clark, Chelsea Walker, Susan Hart, and Chandler Wukie on their outstanding contributions to the firm and dedication to BHDP’s Collective Ambition.
Together, we look forward to embracing new challenges and continuing our promise to design for people.

“The MBA corporate lexicon has permeated our modern world so completely that it is nearly impossible to go a week at work without hearing about KPIs, ROI, or the need to ‘circle back’ to either of those. When it comes to a fuzzier topic like innovation, those very same measurement tools begin to act as a firewall to creativity.”
