With Allegheny County Covid infection rates on the rise, and keeping member safety foremost in mind, masks are encouraged (not required) at this time while in the SWC building.
If you develop symptoms and test positive for COVID, please alert us immediately by calling 412 683 4477 or by emailing [email protected]
If you test positive for COVID-19, please stay home for at least 5 days and isolate from others in your home. You are likely infectious during the first 5 days.
Once symptoms begin improving you may return to SWC functions after day 5 if you are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication), AND you have a negative test for COVID-19.
You must continue to mask through day 10.
SWC has test kits and masks available for you, should you need them.
Please take care, be safe and follow the wise health guidance outlined above.

The 2024 PA LGBTQ+ Health Needs Assessment is currently underway. The purpose of this assessment, which is administered every other year by Bradbury Sullivan LGBT Community Center and Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC), is to strengthen the health and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community.
The assessment aims to fill the void of available research on LGBTQ+ health, identifying health disparities and barriers to care, and exploring possible strategies for addressing these issues. The survey will close in August and is available in both English and Spanish.

Shepherd Wellness Community
In the summer of 1987 a group of young men living with AIDS, a caring social worker and a physician met with Father Lynn Edwards to discuss the effects of AIDS and HIV infection in the Pittsburgh area.
Then, as today, Pennsylvania ranked among the top 10 states with the most cases of AIDS. Yet there was no place in Pittsburgh where people with this disease could socialize with their partners, families and friends in a safe and secure setting. From this meeting grew the Shepherd Wellness Community – a supportive community for people with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones. The first dinner was held in October 1987, and the tradition of nourishing meals accompanied by wellness
programs and social support continues to this day. A concerned group sitting around a kitchen table has become the only HIV/AIDS community in Western Pennsylvania.
