I lost track of our overall placements throughout the weekend but we had:

Numerous first in category awards
Tons of top 10’s
1st place mini soloist in the age group
1st place mini duet in the age group
highest scoring mini duet of the weekend
highest scoring mini small group of the weekend
AND
THE highest scoring routine of the weekend in our division
Plus numerous precision awards and additional special judges awards.
I am just elated with what we’ve accomplished 🥰

I wasn’t made to be a dance mom but...

I didn’t know that she would request to take more classes.

I didn’t know she’d practice at home any moment that she could. (The girl can fit a cartwheel into spaces I wouldn’t even dream of attempting one.)

I didn’t know there were so many different types of dance shoes.

I didn’t know that dancing would drive her dreams.

I didn’t know that it wasn’t the parent pushing the child to join the competitive dance teams… and that she’d request to join the comp team and deeply desire getting to be a part of it.

I didn’t know her fellow dancers would become her best friends.

I didn’t know that their friendship would know no age and that the older dancers would include the younger dancers without hesitation… not just at the studio, but in life.

I didn’t know that the older dancers would take them under their wings and teach, guide, encourage, and celebrate them.

I didn’t know that her dance studio would be her safe place in this world… the place where she truly feels like she belongs.

I didn’t know that dance would become her passion.

I didn’t know that dancing would boost her confidence.

I didn’t know that we would have a dance family.

And I didn’t know she’d look forward to seeing the dance crew sooo much!

I didn’t know that the other dance moms would band together and play to each other’s strengths.

I didn’t know that I could be real and admit that I have no clue what I’m doing as a dance mom and that they’d take me under their wing without judgement.

I didn’t know that the seasoned dance mom would forget their dancer’s shoes, arrive late, and have trouble navigating parking in the big city too.

But, most importantly I didn’t know… that a dance mom is exactly who I was meant to be.

And that is why when people ask why do you pay that much for your daughter to dance...this is why!
