Collaborative Arts of Plano Celebrates the Arts on Saturday, August 17th at the Courtyard Theatre. Two performances - a family friendly forty-five-minute Children's Matinee at 2:30 p.m. (come at 2 p.m. for free art activities! Plano Civic Chorus is seeking qualified candidates to audition for the 2024-25 season! There are audition dates on Saturday, August 3rd and Monday, August 5th for both our main group, Plano Civic Chorus, and our chamber group, Plano Chamber Chorus*. *Recognizing the need for a non-professional chamber choir in the area, the Plano Chamber Chorus was formed in 2017 as an opportunity for highly experienced singers of Plano Civic Chorus to perform a diverse repertoire of new and traditional music composed for the smaller ensemble. The chamber choir will perform 2-3 songs in each Plano Civic Chorus concert for the 2024-25 season.

Meet our Choral Operations Manager!

We are excited to welcome Jenny Fridge to our team in the role of Choral Operations Manager. Her expertise in Arts Management will help our choir as we strive for excellence. Here is a short bio about Jenny:

Jenny Fridge brings over 25 years of distinguished arts administration experience to her role as Choral Operations Manager of Plano Civic Chorus. Her career is marked by a series of impactful roles, reflecting her deep commitment to the arts and music education.

Previously, Jenny served as the Director of Operations and Interim Director of Choral Music at Dallas ISD, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the district's choral programs. She also served as the Education Coordinator at the prestigious Dallas Symphony Orchestra, fostering music education initiatives. Her experience extends to the role of Children’s Music Director at First United Methodist Church Dallas, where she enriched young lives through music.

In addition, Jenny has held significant managerial positions, including Marketing and Grants Manager at the Pilgrim Chamber Players and Publicity Director at the Texas Tech University School of Music. Her contributions were also felt as the Business Manager of the Lubbock Chorale and as a founding member and former president of the Ken Davis Chorale, a semi-professional choir in the DFW metroplex.

Jenny holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Instrumental Music Education and a Master of Music Degree in Choral Conducting from Texas Tech University. Her education under esteemed mentors such as Ken Davis, Grammy Award-winning tenor, Karl Dent, and James Sudduth has shaped her into a seasoned professional in the field of choral music.

A resident of Plano for the past decade, Jenny is deeply rooted in the community and is excited to contribute her expertise to the choral tradition and arts mission of Plano Civic Chorus. Her passion for music education and her extensive background in arts administration make her a valuable asset to the organization as it continues to enrich the cultural fabric of Plano and beyond.

Fun fact about the Duruflé Requiem, which we are performing on May 11th: The last time Plano Civic Chorus performed this work in its entirety was in March 2001, which was during the first season of our previous artistic director, Ralph Stannard's tenure. Isn't it interesting that both he and our current artistic director, Randy Hooper, chose this work to be part of their inaugural seasons? PCC OPEN REHEARSAL
If you've ever considered auditioning for Plano Civic Chorus but wanted to experience a rehearsal first, now's your chance! We are hosting two open rehearsals on April 22nd and 29th, and welcome you to attend, either to sing along as we rehearse the Durufle Requiem, or just watch and observe. Seating is limited, so we ask that you sign up to guarantee a spot.
Rehearsals are held at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano. Rehearsal begins at 7:00 on both days.

We were honored to welcome Dr. Marques L. A. Garrett, Conductor, Educator, Composer, Vocalist, and Clinician to our rehearsal Monday evening. Dr. Garrett’s extensive research on non-idiomatic choral music by Black composers was one of the inspirations for our concert this coming Saturday. We hope you will join us as we perform ‘My Heart Be Brave’ by Dr. Garrett as part of a program that highlights the breadth and depth of the artistry of Black composers of the past and today.

Exciting news! KERA is airing the Plano Symphony Orchestra’s Mahler's Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection” concert tomorrow, Monday, January 22 at 8 PM! This was the final concert in our 2022/23 Season. We feel so honored that KERA is airing our performance and hope that you’ll tune in to WRR 101.1 FM to listen to this grandiose event. A labor of love for Maestro Héctor Guzmán.

Our Sopranos and Altos will be part of this performance on Saturday night! It will be fantastic! We love performing with Plano Symphony Orchestra!
