I want to thank everyone that contributed to my birthday fundraiser for Dentists Against Cancer. Together we raised over $1,250 that will go directly to the Women In Need Fund to help underprivileged women cover costs associated with breast cancer. It makes a huge difference in their lives and I am thankful for the support.

We are continuing our efforts to raise awareness and money to help women in need as they battle breast cancer. Though we are not doing our golf tournament, any donation is appreciated.

We are thankful for the Main St Brewery and their efforts to raise money for Dentists Against Cancer. In June, they held their annual/semi-annual golf tournament to raise money. Our gratitude for being the beneficiaries of their efforts is heartfelt because we know the money will benefit underprivileged women dealing with a terrible disease, breast cancer. Without this year's golf tournament, we have been focusing on our dental practice. However, we do want to thank everyone that participated in our 'Smiles For Life' campaign at our dental office. For those that don't know, every year we do teeth whitening for charity. A company, currently Opalescence, donates whitening material; our office donates our time making custom whitening trays; and we ask our patients to make a donation to the Smiles For Life campaign. This year, we raised $5,775 for the campaign. 1/2 of the money goes to the national campaign to help underprivileged children receive much needed dental care. The other 1/2 of the money comes back to a local charity to help children in our community. Dentists Against Cancer is the local charity. By helping underprivileged women cover the cost associated with breast cancer, we help their children. You can take advantage of this ongoing campaign by contacting our office at (925)426-1300. If you don't need your teeth whitened, you can 'gift' a teeth whitening for a friend or family member. It makes a great gift, and everyone wins.

Breast Cancer is a terrible disease. Dentists Against Cancer delivers 100% of the money raised to the Women In Need Fund at Stanford Healthcare - ValleyCare. This money helps underprivileged women receive financial aid for breast cancer care. From diagnosis to treatment to post-operative care, the Women In Need Fund pays copays they can't afford, buys wigs for women in treatment, pays for post-op compression sleeves to prevent blood clots, prosthetics, and many other items these women would otherwise go without.

On May 20, 2018 we were the honored guests at the annual/semi-annual Main St Brewery Charity Golf Tournament and Fun Fest at the golf course on the Alameda County Fairgrounds. Participants played 9 holes carrying only three clubs. One club had to be a driver or fairway wood, one had to be a putter, and the third could be any other club. Needless to say, the round of golf was challenging. After the 9-holes were played, all players gathered on the 8th tee to participate in a one-shot-per-player closest-to-the-pin contest (over water). Fun was had by all. The event was followed by a get together at the Main St Brewery in Pleasanton on Main Street in the old Cheese Factory building.
The proceeds from the event were donated to a few recipient charities and our portion totaled $1,303. We are very thankful for the donation and the money will be joined with money raised from our Tri-Valley Memorial Charity Tournament on August 17, 2018 at Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore. So we did not have time to prepare for and host the 2017 Tri-Valley Memorial Charity Golf Tournament, but we did continue our efforts to raise money to fight breast cancer. Our efforts include a year-long commitment to Smiles For Life. This program lets us donate our time whitening teeth for our patients in exchange for a "donation" from the patients.

This money goes to the Smiles For Life national campaign to help children. 50% of the money raised goes to the national efforts and 50% comes back to a local charity that helps children in our community. The local charity is Dentists Against Cancer and it helps underprivileged children by helping their mothers that are affected with breast cancer.

Our other efforts include making purchases on smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com. This allows Amazon to contribute a portion of each sale to our charity. Anyone can do this, so if you make purchases on Amazon, please consider using smile.amazon.com instead. Choose Dentists Against Cancer as your beneficiary and underprivileged women with breast cancer will benefit from your generosity.

In addition to these efforts, we have also received funds from eBay sales over the past year. During the listing process, it is possible to choose a charity to receive a portion, or even all, of the proceeds of a sale. This is, potentially, a very big source of donations if a lot of people help.

With these efforts, and a few donations from friends and family members, we have raised over $5,000 this year.

Since we began the charity in 2009, we have been fortunate to have support from many friends, family, patients, and others that have helped us raise over $102,500. This money has been used to set up the Women In Need Fund (now with Stanford Health Care - ValleyCare). This money helps cover the costs as underprivileged women deal with breast cancer.

During Fiscal Year 2017, the Women in Need Fund supported 97 patients with the following:
· 54 custom sleeves
· 13 custom gloves
· 23 surgical bras
· 9 prostheses
· 21 garment gauntlets
· 2 camisoles
· 2 vests/shirts
· 45 turban wigs

We want to thank each an every one of our supporters and our prayers go out to those that have fought, are fighting, or have lost the fight to breast cancer. Early detection and treatment are the best hope right now and every little bit helps this fight.
