My yoga journey started in 2005 when I stepped foot in a cute little hot yoga studio in Plymouth.
At that time, classes were 90 minutes long, the room was super hot, the humidifier kept it tropical, the floor was carpeted and there were mirrors. As the end of the first class approached, I was already hooked!
The owner of the studio, Mary, quickly became my teacher, mentor and friend. In 2006, Mary approached me and asked if I had ever thought about being a yoga instructor. My first gut eaction, and what I told her, was âOh, hell no! I could never get in front of people and teach.â
I continued to practice several days a week. During class, when I got quiet, the idea of teaching kept coming up. Mary had planted a seed.
Could I really do it? Why was I resisting?
I loved yoga and how it made me feel both physically and mentally. Why wouldnât I want to share that with others? The truth was that I wanted to share it with others but I was scared.
Fear was holding me back.
After a couple of months, I began to warm up to the idea of teacher training. I still had fear but figured if Mary had confidence in me, there just might be something there and I needed to embrace it.
Really, whatâs the worst thing that could happen?
Spend the money on the training and never teach? Even if I decided not to teach, the training would enhance my personal practice. I would be investing in myself. Well, now thatâs something I hadnât done before.
After about 6 months of long drawn out discussions with myself, I decided to go for it. After class one day, I went to Mary and said, âSo, about this teaching thing. What do I need to do?â

Before you dive into the hustle of the day (and week), take a moment to breathe. Yep, right now. Inhale deeply, exhale slowly.
Today, letâs set a simple intention: to feel good. Not in a cheesy, superficial way, but in a real, grounded way that resonates with you.
What does feeling good look like for you today? Maybe itâs taking a five-minute break to stretch, sipping your favorite tea mindfully, or just smiling at a stranger.
Remember, living yoga isnât just about the poses we practice on the mat; itâs about the small, intentional choices we make throughout our day. So, letâs make today about choosing to feel good, in whatever way that means for you.

Words from the Prime Minister of India on , âYoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action ... a holistic approach [that] is valuable to our health and our well-being. Yoga is not just about exercise; it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.â

Summer Solstice is here â the longest day of the year, and honestly, itâs a reminder to soak up all the damn light we can.âď¸
This isnât just some woo-woo holiday; itâs a powerful time to check in with ourselves and our lives.đŤś
The sunâs out there doing its thing, blazing and unapologetic. Itâs a cue for us to do the same. Take a minute to think about where you are right now. Whatâs lighting you up? Whatâs dragging you down?
Hereâs a no-BS guide to making the most of this day:
âď¸Get Outside: Ditch the screens for a bit and get into the wild. Whether itâs a run, a walk, or just sitting in the sun, reconnect with the world around you.
âď¸Set Real Intentions: Forget the fluffy stuff. What do you really want? Write it down, say it out loud, and commit to making it happen.
âď¸Ground Yourself: Touch the earth, literally. Walk barefoot, hug a tree, whatever it takes to feel that solid ground beneath you. Itâs grounding, and we all need that.
âď¸Celebrate Honestly: No need for forced smiles or fake joy. Do what makes you genuinely happy. Spend time with people who get you, and let loose.
Letâs use this solstice to get real with ourselves. Embrace your light and step into your power.đ
