Keep your eye out for chilly weather this weekend! Here are tips to protect your garden and plants from the cold:
πΊ Bring tropical plants, such as citrus trees, hibiscus, and mandevilla, indoors to a bright, warm location.
π· Some bulb plants, like colocasia and caladiums, can be cut back and stored in a cool, dark basement during the winter.
π» Cover inground plantings with frost blankets, burlap, or even cardboard boxes. These materials will help to trap heat and protect plants from cold temperatures. Avoid using plastic, as that material isnβt breathable and can contribute to moldy blossoms!

π± A good layer of mulch will help conserve moisture and suppress w**d germination
π± Mulch can reduce soil temperature fluctuation to help prevent transplant shock and protect roots from changes in weather
π± Mulch can help prevent erosion by shielding the soil from the elements and can minimize the spread of soil-borne diseases by providing a layer of protection between the soil and plant foliage
