Tanay Panguluri of Wayzata is Metro Player of the Year in boys tennis Tanay Panguluri served as a senior captain on a Wayzata state champion loaded with youngsters, and he also was half of the winning doubles pair.

This holiday commemorates the day in 1865 when news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached enslaved people of African descent in Galveston, Texas, months after the Civil War ended and over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It has been celebrated by Black Americans for decades as Freedom Day.
