Robbinsdale Area Schools Adventure Club
Adventure Club is the School Age Care program in the Robbinsdale Area Schools District. We are located in all Robbinsdale elementary schools.
Neil Adventure Club learned about Cueva de las Manos (Cave of Hands) in Argentina. The cave has lots of outlines of hands that are from over 10,000 years ago. The kids created their own art of hands with chalk. After lunch, the k-2nd graders went on their first excursion to Hyland Park. The weather held up so they all could run, climb and enjoy playing with their friends. The 3rd-5th graders went to Grand Slam where they played miniature golf, video games and bumper cars. It was a great day of fun for everyone!
Neill Adventure Club’s ship arrived in Argentina today. They made Dumce de Leche sandwich cookies and Refresco De Coco ( coconut cooler) to drink. The younger kids learned about the smallest armadillo ‘The Pink Fairy’ that are endangered in Argentina. They then made pictures of these little animals. The older kids made Samba dolls that originated in Africa. Samba are dancers who wear colorful clothing to celebrate their culture.
Neill Adventure Club ended their stay in Tampa Bay by celebrating Gasparilla Pirate Fest today. Students and staff dressed like pirates, made treasure maps, mini pirates and pirate hooks! On Monday, Neill Adventure Club will dock in Argentina for a short visit.
Zachary Lane Adventure Club enjoyed our first walking field trip to Zachary Park.
Neill Adventure Club spent the day building bridges. The kids first learned about a very important bridge in Tampa, The Sunshine Skyway bridge. It is one of the longest cable-concrete bridges in the world. The kids had lots of materials to use to build their bridges. Some teamed up with friends and others chose to try and build by themselves.
Tomorrow we will be celebrating our last day in Tampa by having our own Gasparilla Festival by dressing like a pirate for the day. Next week our ship sets sails to Argentina and Brazil.
Neill Adventure Club stayed pretty busy today. Besides playing board games, building with legos and running around the gym, a lot of the kids participated in making cute jelly fish by sponge painting and learning how to make a Cuban sandwich which originated in Tampa Bay, Florida where our ship is currently docked. 😉
Today the kids at Neill learned how to make animal origami with washcloths just like they do on real cruise ships. In the afternoon, both the k-2nd graders and the 3rd-5th graders took their first excursion (walking trips) to two different parks that were nearby. It was a fun day!
Neill Adventure Club started their summer off by working on their passports and making a model of their ship that will be set to sail around the world starting in Tampa Bay, FL.
Tomorrow will be walking to a park and creating animal origami with washcloths!

We couldn’t see the solar eclipse because of the clouds but we made our own DIY models of a solar eclipse at Sonnesyn AC. Two of our staff who were in a better viewing area shared some photos they took 😎
Lakeview Adventure Club has been working hard on building relationships with each other and with staff. There was a lot of cooperative play, helping each other with tasks that were more difficult for some like making rubber band bracelets. The kids played with or helped other kids that they normally don’t hang out with on a daily basis. The beautiful part of this is that this was all done naturally and without much guidance from staff!
Everyone loved seeing the sunshine this week at RSI AC!!☀️ To end the week the kids made a yummy food project for fun Friday!😆 we hope everyone has a great weekend!
