What an experience, our Post Leadership Cohosted an event with VFW La Verne. We love partnering up and working together to serve our Veterans. We honored the memory of First Lieutenant Adriano Cartagena. His family was awarded his medals and service records posthumously. We want to thank the offices of Congresswoman for putting this together. Our Commander along with 1VC and 2VC . We continue to serve our veterans and our community.

Purple Heart Day on August 7 is the kind of day created to give back. It’s a day for Americans to remember and honor the men and women who bravely represented their country and were wounded or killed whilst serving. These people are decorated with a Purple Heart in the name of the President, and this day is for remembering them and their sacrifice. Some states, counties, and cities pause in recognition, as do some sports and entertainment entities. Military and veteran organizations also hold meetings for remembrance. Please join us as we honor those that have been given a Purple Heart.

Despite initial bipartisan agreement, the Honoring Our PACT Act is now in jeopardy. This transformative bill providing healthcare to veterans exposed to burn pits and toxic hazards initially passed both the House and Senate with bipartisan support in June, and again in the House of Representatives just two weeks ago in a 342-88 vote.

You heard that right: this same bill has already passed the House twice and the Senate once, and required a final 60-vote confirmation in the Senate to be sent to the President's desk. And on July 27th the vote fell short 55-42.

As Senate Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Jon Tester said, "This is a sad day in the U.S. Senate. The American people are sick and tired of the games that go on in this body."

We must break this cycle of care that is considered "too little, too late" for our veterans, and inform our Senators of their solemn duty to our nation's heroes. If you are sick and tired of political deadlock, contact your Senators today and urge them to prioritize and pass this much-needed legislation.

Thank you to all that attended yesterdays 2022-23 Officers installation, your support means a lot to our Veteran Community. It was great to see the whole American Legion Family together from our Legionnaires, Auxilary, Sals, And Riders. We hope that you you stay tuned for the this years events and workshops we will have for our veterans.

Thank you to our Elgant District 18 Installation team, Our installing officer .romano Commander of The American Legion, Department of California. The Auxiliary Past President Kathie, Auxilary District 18 Leadership, all of our elected officials from the offices of Assessor Jeff Prang and Families that joined us.

This year is going to be one for the books, set your calendars for upcoming Veterans Gala in November, and Inaugural Veteran Golf Tournament in Spring of 2023.
