Some of you like to get as much volume as possible after one 1️⃣ lip filler treatment, and others - prefer to build lip volume gradually, over the course of several treatments. Both ways work, it just depends on the individual - you 🫵🏻! This is why I have a consultation before each treatment, regardless if I saw 👀 you before or not!😊

There is nothing “cookie 🍪 cutter” about my approach to lip filler treatment. People are different, and so are their lips - the shape, look, space where lip fillers are placed and the expectations. This young woman came to see me concerning about 2 things:

1. Her bottom lip being much bigger and fuller than the top lip,
2. Her top lip being thin and receded back.

Both are valid concerns correctable with lip filler (in this case). I used 1 full syringe 💉 of lip filler to increase height and fullness of her top lip and to add suppleness to the bottom lip 👄.

In some patients top or bottom lip recedes too much back or projects too much forward due to underbite or overbite. In these cases, the problem is structural with the positioning of upper or lower jaw&teeth and lip filler may or may not make any noticeable improvement. As always, it’s best to come for a consultation and evaluation with me.😊

One of the most important things I emphasise during lip filler consultation is potential swelling and bruising after the procedure. I want to talk about swelling in more detail.

There are only 2 safe, effective and FDA approved methods of delivering filler into your lips - via needle 💉 or cannula. I do use both, but prefer needle as it’s much more precise 🎯.

Every needle poke creates inflammation with the subsequent swelling in the tissue, in this case, lips 👄. After finishing injecting your lips, I always explain that about 20% of lip volume you see is from swelling and the rest is from filler. You always (!) need to wait 2 weeks to see the final result. This is how long it takes for a complete tissue healing and filler settling.

In the case above, there are almost no volume difference between the lips “immediately after lip filler” and the lips “2 weeks later, healed!” It’s quite rare that there is no volume loss after that 2-week healing period.😊 Most people do lose volume and often want their “swollen lips” 💋 back.😌

Although, it’s impossible to completely avoid swelling (and bruising), but there are a few things that you can do to minimize them.

3 days before your lip filler appointment:

🌱start taking arnica supplements by mouth,
🌱stop drinking alcohol 🍷,
🌱stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen,
🌱stop taking fish 🐠 oil, garlic, and evening primrose oil supplements.

I have noticed that following these ⬆️ Instructions helps reduce (and sometimes eliminate) swelling, bruising and inflammation after lip filler injection.🤩

How often do I do tear trough/undereye filler? Not often! Why? Because most people are not good candidates for it.😉

Who is a great candidate for tear trough filler? Someone who:

✅ has medium-deep undereye hollowness,
✅ has depression and darkness along the orbital bone and tear trough ligament, just like the patient above ⬆️,
✅ has super tired look most of the time, however, I would need to evaluate the medial cheek and undereye areas to see what treatment would work best!

The big “no” for the tear trough filler is a tendency to have facial swelling, especially when waking up in the morning. Remember, all hyaluronic acid based fillers are hydrophilic and attract water 💦. If the filler is used in someone who is not a good candidate, she or he may end up with more swelling and puffiness to the tear trough area.

For this treatment, a thorough consultation and evaluation is a must!🤓

You don’t need more time.
You need more focus.

There are as many different lip 👄 shapes as there are people. It’s not very often that I see and get to work with something interesting and unusual like these ⬆️ pair of lips (swipe right to see the “before “ picture).

These lips have a few asymmetries and some loose skin, especially on the top lip, that can be challenging to treat with a lip filler. Why? Because it’s hard to predict, in the case like this, how the lip tissue is going to respond to the filler, as the gel (filler) may be either to soft to correct anything or too hard to smoothly merge with the lip skin.

In this case, I chose just the perfect 🤩 filler and the results were fantastic!

Although it is not always possible to get a perfect correlation, but some or significant improvements are achievable 😊. As with many other things, individual results vary 😉

MICRONEEDLING

What is it?

Microneedling, also known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy (CIT), is a rejuvenation procedure with minimal downtime that helps smooth facial lines and wrinkles, even skin tone, help with acne, dark spots and scars, and improve skin elasticity. During microneedling procedure, I make thousands of controlled microscopic needle incisions through the epidermis (outermost layer of the skin) down to the dermis (see slide 2), to induce neocollagenesis (collagen/elastin production) and neovascularization (formation of new blood vessels for better oxygen and nutrients delivery to the skin).

Microneedling also opens micro-channels in the skin that help skin care products absorb better and more efficiently.

Who is a candidate?
Anyone who is concerned with:
• Fine lines and wrinkles (including around the eyes)
• Loose skin
• Uneven skin tone
• Post-acne scars
• Superficial discoloration
• Stretch marks (body)
• Mild-moderate scars (face and body)

Contraindications:
• Active acne
• Rosacea
• Blood disorders
• Eczema or Psoriasis
• Cold sores or Shingles
• Skin infections or Open wounds
• Raised keloid scars

How long does the treatment process take?
I schedule microneedling treatment for 1 hour, and it includes cleansing, numbing, treatment and post treatment cream application. My 1 microneedling treatment covers full face, neck and décolleté. If interested in body area(s), please, message me to discuss 😊

What to expect after the procedure and how often should I do it?
Right after the treatment, your skin is going to be bright pink and appear similar to a moderate sunburn, and, depending on the intensity and needle depth, these may last for a few hours.
To get the maximum benefit from microneedling, it is advisable to have a series of 4 treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart.

Does microneedling cause hyper- or hypo-pigmentation)
In normal skin, no. Unlike other facial rejuvenation procedures that use heat ♨️, light 💡 or lasers 🔆, microneedling doesn’t carry risk of skin discoloration and is ideal for any skin tone.

All in all, microneedling is an ideal procedure to add to almost anyone’s skin care journey!☀️🫶🏻

How to determine quality of a lip filler procedure?:

✅ Lips must have an increased vertical height, lip border definition and minimal forward projection, when being viewed from a side,

This young woman was not really looking to volumize her lips, but wanted more fullness in her top lip to match the bottom lip. Done!✅

Not only we balanced her top-to-bottom lip ratio by increasing the height of the top lip, but also, we were able to close the “gaps” through which some teeth were showing between the top and bottom lips (see “before” of the first picture).😊

All in all, this was an excellent first ever lip filler treatment for this beauty ☀️

💥When will I see the results after Sculptra injection?
You won’t see any significant changes right after the procedure. It takes about 4-8 weeks to start seeing skin improvements.😊

For this patient in her mid forties, I used a total of 2 vials to treat her lower face only. The “after” picture was taken 4.5 months (and 2 vials 🧪 of Sculptra) after the “before” picture.🤍
Results:
💉 Retexturizing of the skin of her lower face - lighter color and less shadowing and unevenness,
💉 Less lines and wrinkles,
💉 Lower face contour is smoother and slightly fuller.

This is as close to the Fountain ⛲️ of Youth as it gets!
