Did you know today is National Napping Day? We deserve it after losing an hour of sleep. Yawn, excuse us but did you know that it’s National Napping Day today? Yeah, it’s a thing. And that makes sense now that we’ve sprung forward an hour and desperately missing that hour from Sunday and we need some extra cafecito. Here's how some people are celebrating the day so far.

We will lose an hour of sleep when 2 a.m. becomes 3 a.m., and while some people love gaining the extra hour of afternoon daylight, most don’t enjoy losing the extra sleep.

New Year's Day is the second most active holiday for car thefts. If you must leave your car somewhere overnight, be sure it's locked and try to pick it up as early as possible the next day.

Do: plan for guests' safety

If you're hosting a party, you'll want to be sure your guests get home safely. One option might be to hire a driver for the evening to provide people a way to get home.

Both guns and fireworks frequently make 'celebratory' appearances at New Year's Eve parties. But it might not be a good idea with the holiday crowds.

Do: make a plan with your kids
