This is just a quick reminder that regular garbage pickup will remain on a normal schedule for Monday, September 2, 2024. If you have any regular garbage, please ensure that it is placed curbside by 7:00 AM.

Please remember to drive safely.
๐จ Starting in September through May 2025, The Port Orange Police will be participating in The Florida Department of Transportation's High Visibility Enforcement Program. They will be increasing their patrols in key areas to boost road safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers. ๐ถโโ๏ธ๐ดโโ๏ธ๐
Officers will focus on high-traffic spots with frequent incidents, targeting dangerous behaviors like speeding, failing to stop for pedestrians, improper turns, and distracted driving. ๐๐ต
Expect enforcement for jaywalking, unsafe biking, and other violations. Warnings and citations will be issued as needed.
Did you know...?
Port Orange once had a wooden bridge made of timber and sabal palm pilings that crossed the river. ๐ By 1932, the planks had started to rot, and a truck attempting to cross only made it a third of the way before the boards gave way. ๐ It took about a week to remove the truck and repair the bridge. However, later that fall, a northeaster storm caused further damage. ๐ฌ๏ธ The wooden bridge was eventually replaced with a concrete one in 1951, which was later replaced again in the 1990s with the current bridge. ๐๏ธ
