Firstly, we would like to remind everyone to please go vote! National and state politics are so important, so don’t forget to send your ballot in if you haven’t. 🗳️
Secondly, we would like to remind you to use your acupuncture and massage benefits before they renew in January. Most insurance plans renew January 1st, meaning if you don’t use them, you lose them. If you have FSA/HSA funds that you need to use and won’t roll over to next year, now is the time to do that too!
✨
We are booking into mid-December, so be sure to book your appointments in advance 😊
✨

The books are open! Devan and Casey are now offering Microneedling!
Microneedling is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that naturally reduces wrinkles, rejuvenates the skin by greatly increasing the body’s collagen production, and stimulating greater circulation to the facial skin and muscles. This can help to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, eliminate skin discoloration, reduce acne, as well as stimulate hair growth for those experiencing hair loss, all without painful surgery or injections.
Microneedling is helpful for:
🌟Wrinkle reduction & Skin rejuvenation
🌟Reduces Acne
🌟Reduces appearance of scars
🌟Reduces Age spots or sun damage
🌟Helps promote hair restoration for those experiencing hair loss
🌟Helps tighten sagging skin
🌟Reduces stretch marks
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is the rapid insertion of many fine needles into the skin by using a microneedling pen. This process creates microchannels in the deeper layers of the skin which helps with cellular repair and turnover. By creating small wounds in the skin, microneedling stimulates the body's natural healing mechanisms by releasing growth factors, boosting collagen and elastin, and allowing hydrating products, mainly hyaluronic acid, to pe*****te the deep layers of the skin to create lasting change.
Microneedling encourages the skin’s ability to absorb serums and hydrating 2000% more than normal. This helps make it so your skincare products make a difference.
Want a glow-up? Go to link in bio to schedule. Have questions about whether Microneedling is right for you? Email us at [email protected]

Our winter recipe that we want to share with you is the underrated but super delicious, and nutritious, Black Sesame Seed Paste. This paste is packed full of calcium, iron, and magnesium. And more importantly, in Chinese Medical nutrition, they help boost yin in the body, aka the blood and body fluids. What this means is that it is super great to eat during the winter when we are replenishing our yin (remember how we all should be resting and sleeping more). Well black sesame seeds help with that too. They are good for tonifying the body and increasing vitality. Other things they are good for:
🌊ringing in the ears
🌊replenishing & nourishing the body postpartum or after menstruation
🌊help with stuff joints and weak knees
🌊headaches
🌊blurred vision
🌊prematurity grey hair
🌊constipation
Recipe:
1cup of black sesame seeds
3 tbsp of honey
Pinch of salt
1tsp-1tbsp of sesame oil
Blend or food process ingredients until smooth paste.
Check out our story/highlights/blog for more tips on how to use the paste and more on the health properties!
KIDNEY 22 (Bùláng) “Walking Corridor”
Kidney 22 conjures up an image of walking through a veranda or outer corridor to a place of safety. This is a transitional area, not only where the Kidney channel makes its way from the abdomen onto the ribcage, but also where a person has endured a long grueling journey and can take a contemplative break examining the outside world and how far they’ve come, while still being protected from the elements.
This point gentle refreshes and calms the mind, while providing a little sunshine for the journey ahead.
We think we could all use a bit of the qi from Bùláng as we enter into 2021.
To stimulate this point, press gently. This point is located at he root of the breast tissue, in the rib space just below the breast, slightly out from the breastbone.
The element of the winter season is water. Water is the resource that gives life to our planet, yet it can take on many different forms. It does not fight it’s way through the world, but instead molds to any form or container. This can teach us much about how we should operate during the winter/water season. Instead of muscling through and overextending ourselves, we should embody fluidity. Thinking and matching our actions to this concept can go a long way for physical and mental health.
The organs associated with this time of year are the Kidneys and Urinary Bladder. In East Asian medicine, the Kidneys can be thought of as the root of the body or the wellspring of life. The Kidneys are the storehouse for our life force, and as such have a big tie to the genetic material and influence our family endows upon us. The Bladder is the organ that is able to tap into the reserves of the Kidney and utilize them. If the Kidneys are a well, then the Bladder is the bucket and rope, used to pull the water up.
During this time of year it is important to engage in activities that shore up and replenish these stores rather than drain them. This is a time to rest more, eat more nutritiously dense food, and work on cultivation of the self, so that the Kidneys won’t be drained too easily in the warmer, more yang months of the year. We can think of the world during this time as a seed in the soil: cold and hard on the exterior, but filled with potential for life on the inside. How can we cultivate and support this inner potential and zest for life?
Because they are so anatomically related to the Kidneys, the adrenal glands should also be paid special attention to this time of year. If you are someone that tends to operate at a high level of stress and find yourself “on” much of the time, you’ll want to ensure you are paying attention to the adrenal glands. Burnout and fatigue are common manifestations of a compromised kidney/adrenal complex.
2021 has already been off to a bumpy start and many of us are feeling our adrenals taxed with events happening in our country, please take care or yourself as best you can. Embody the water element & rest when you need.
We cannot pretend that yesterday’s events happened in a vacuum.
If you are struggling to keep it together, carry no shame about the triggers and trauma that may be surfacing. We all witnessed something truly shocking and violent.
Our outside environment has always impacted our health just as much as the inner workings of our bodies.
So remember, be tender with yourself and others. Take a day, take a break, and focus on what’s directly in front of you.
You deserve safety and comfort.
Our ears, eyes, and hearts are open.
We are here if you need.
Image:
The Winter season in East Asian medicine is the epitome of supreme yin (stillness, rest, quietude). It is the time of year when many outward activities cease and rather, we turn inward focusing on the inner cultivation of self. This quite literally shows up in some animals as hibernation, and while we humans may not have the luxury of an extended snooze, there are lessons to be learned from the rhythms of the natural world.
The element of the season is water (more on the element & organs to come). This element teaches us to move with fluidity, not overextending and overexerting ourselves.
The organs associated with this time of year are the Kidneys and Urinary Bladder.
The emotion associated with Winter is fear. It’s true fear can be stifling and all-consuming to our mental and emotional faculties, but it is important for our survival response. The virtue associated with fear during the Winter is wisdom and will-power. This wisdom is more an inner-knowing or instinctual sense.
Here are some tips to align your health, your body, your mind, and your actions with Winter:
* Slow it down. Yep, it’s ok. You may even think but 2020 has been so slow already, but it’s been A LOT to process everything we’ve experienced this year.
* Gentle movement. If you do keep a pretty high intensity to workouts throughout the year, try and swap out 1 or 2 days a week for a gentle yin or restorative yoga practice.
* Like fall, focus on warm foods. Swap the smoothie for warm oatmeal or rice porridge (congee), eat more soup, warm beverages, and stew with warming herbs and spices.
* It’s ok to sleep a little longer.
* If you’ve been on the fence, now is the great time to start a meditation/mindfulness/qigong/or other spiritual practice.
*Take care of your mental health. Things like Seasonal Affective Disorder, depression, and anxiety seem to hit harder, especially here in the Northern Hemisphere.
*Self massage on the Kidney and BL channel. (see more later in week)
*Listen to Yin Time Playlist
*Practice journaling prompts.
*stay warm and get cozy!
2020, the year we learned how to smile with our eyes (only one of a billion things we learned). Happy New Years to you all and thank you for being apart of our Woven Wellness community! We are so grateful for your support this past year and we look forward to continuing to grow, continuing to work towards social change, providing you with great care, and seeing you in the new year. 2021 here we come 😊
journaling for the new year:
The time between the winter solstice and the new year is a beautiful time to self-reflect (I am big on reflection and I like to simmer in it for these few weeks). With such self-reflection, a powerful tool to use is journaling— it is a way to get what is in the mind and body out on to a physical form that can then either be released or kept around for daily reminders. Winter, plus the Full Moon in Cancer today, is a perfect time for this activity, it is a time that cultivates going inward and seeking those seeds within ourselves.
The prompts below help you dig a bit deeper than the surface level of what you want to release or call in for the new year. And the concept of “resolutions” in the sense of accomplishing a goal or attempting to be more productive doesn’t resonate with me and I think it puts a lot of pressure on our psyches that are already feeling pressure cooked.
What I like to do is create a theme or a few intentions that I would like to call in for the new year. This way, you can continue to go back to this core theme or intention throughout the year as a center point in your life, like a guiding north star, for this year. Just as we grow and change as time passes, these intentions may transform as well. And that is ok.
As you go through these prompts, feel free to free write and just let whatever comes up to have the space.
Journal prompts for 2021:
1. Is there anything you would like to release from the previous year? If so, what is it?
2. Once you get to the root, do you see this pattern in other areas of your life? If so where does it come up for you?
3. From what you want to release, what do you want to call in from this? Can you use these difficulties for an opportunity to reframe them and bring in some new energy or intention?
4. How do you want to feel in the year to come?
5. Are there any other intentions you have for this next year?
6. What are your top intentions for yourself for the year to come?
7. Do you see any theme on the horizon for the new year? Using these things you want to call in, is there one word to encapsulate it all?
Need some last minute gifts for the holidays? We have our new Tote Bag that is Fair Trade and made with Organic Cotton and our Relaxation Herbal Foot Soaks! These fun items are great for a small gift that is good for you and the environment. See link in bio to purchase. Happy holidays!
