After years of creation, the International Center for Reiki Training has released a program for Animal Reiki. At Holy Love Reiki, we’re thrilled to make Animal Reiki available online.

Animal Reiki is not only valuable for our pets and farm animals; it deepens our connection with the Spirit of Earth and the Tree of Life. It builds the power of our compassion as we heed the call to the Sacred Circle.

These are challenging times, no question, but Animal Reiki raises our spiritual confidence. It heals environmental anxiety and returns hope as we face climate disasters. It refreshes and inspires the activists.

The prerequisite for Animal Reiki is human Reiki I & II, where we were introduced to the flow of Reiki and learned to work with Usui symbols.

The next opportunity to take Animal Reiki with us is on December 13 & 14.

LOVE FIRST…

I’ve just completed an eight-week online course: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Parkinson’s. The course was arranged by the Brian Grant Foundation, with exceptional instruction by Kimberly Carson of Mindful Yoga Works.

I enjoyed the course and, even with my 50-plus years of experience with meditation, I learned a lot. Deborah commented on the positive effects the course had on me.

If you get a chance, take this course. Also, the Brian Grant Foundation is an excellent resource for living well with Parkinson’s. They share information (and recipes!) on nutrition and exercise as well as Mindfulness.

At Holy Love Reiki, we appreciate this approach. We suggest that folks dealing with Parkinson’s seek Reiki sessions and, for those inclined, education; practice meditation; exercise with the help of a physical therapist or similar professional; and enjoy a natural and organic diet that works for your unique body. And, most important, treat yourself well and take every chance to be kind to another person.

People we meet often appear divinely guided, with parts for us to play in a script beyond our understanding. Graced with synergy, we often witness amazing transformations.

We work with energy, and we are humbled as energy works with us. Spirit connects our lives with other lives, with Earth, and with all that is.

Deborah O’Brien and I are master teachers of all levels of Usui Reiki, including the use of sacred symbols and natural healing through space and time. Both of us are also master teachers of Animal Reiki. Our classes and workshops are available online in person.

We provide individualized treatments that range from short sessions to custom series. Reiki is helpful with relationships, pain, anxiety, neurological disorders, and much more. Sometimes the light of Reiki reveals issues or stuck emotions we didn’t realize needed attention. Graciously, Reiki and other specialized approaches can release energetic blocks without triggering or reliving the underlying trauma.

We put our egos to the side as we work intuitively—honored and committed to delivering the best service for our clients. We work individually, sequentially, or together.

We are delighted to talk with you, whether you are considering treating yourself to your first Reiki session, ready to learn advanced techniques, or wondering if it would help to add Reiki as a complementary therapy to a challenging diagnosis.

What is Reiki, and Does it Really Work? Here’s how this energy-healing practice can help balance you

SUBTLE INTUITION

Yesterday, Deborah O’Brien and I were honored to receive this excellent review for our session work with a new client:

“I’m 66 years old, and I’ve had Parkinson’s Disease for several years. I had read about Reiki being a good therapy for Parkinson’s, so I looked into it and found Peter and Deborah. I’ve had two sessions so far, and they’ve made quite a difference in my life. Remarkably, I am much more mobile and suddenly pain-free — for the first time in years. I’m not sure how it works. Must be magic. But it does work. Looking forward to my next session.”

This review meant a lot to us. Over the past six years, we’ve learned, developed, and experimented with numerous Reiki techniques useful for Parkinson’s Disease and similar disorders.

Initially, Deborah worked on me and discovered ways to help me cope with my twelve-year struggle with Parkinson’s. I didn’t know what she was doing, but it worked. I got better and felt better.

Deborah had over twenty years of deep experience in Reiki and other healing arts. Because of her experience, she understood that she couldn’t manipulate Reiki to achieve an outcome. Reiki is intelligent energy wrapped in unconditional love. It flows where it is needed to serve the highest good.

Primarily because of the recovery I experienced, I wanted to learn Reiki. Learning hand positions, symbols, and guided meditations was easy. The trick was to put my ego aside while trusting my intuition. When we trust Reiki and the altruism available for each of us, then the good stuff appears.

Deborah and I often conduct as a team the first and frequently subsequent sessions for clients exhibiting symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease. Parkinson’s particularly challenges us to help our clients with excellence. With subtle intuition, we trust in the source of healing.

Energy Tools for Parkinson’s Disorder

by Peter Huhtala HolyLoveReiki.com

Parkinson’s Disorder manifests uniquely for each person that encounters it. With some, tremors are a dominant issue. Others have balance problems. Some experience cognitive disfunction. It’s common, but not inevitable, to observe a progression of symptoms.

Parkinson’s is a movement disorder. Connections between brain functions that control muscles and the muscles themselves sometimes seem to be severed. Parts of the body may become rigid. Walking may be difficult or lack a natural gait. Many other physical and mental effects may appear. The medical community does not profess a cure for Parkinson’s nor definitive causes.

The clinical diagnosis of Parkinson’s, along with the symptoms, can be stressful. Exercise, diet, medicine, and therapy can treat physical, mental, and emotional issues, but stress itself is elusive. Yet stress and its cousin trauma may be key to developing a cure.

If we think we are only bodies with brains that operate them, we limit ourselves. Subtle energies are a natural part of this world. We can learn to identify, express, and guide them. Many of us know of our limitless nature through devotion, prayer, or spiritual experiences; many more have experienced falling in love.

Below I introduce some practices that use energy to cope with Parkinson’s and blunt its impact. Pick and choose what resonates with you. Perhaps try something that stretches your cultural norms. Experiment and own your experience. Trust your discernment.

Reiki

As unveiled in Japan 100 years ago by Mikao Usui, Reiki is an elegant system to work with and guide spiritual energy. I use Reiki as the touchstone that coordinates my wellness. It is not a belief system, rather an interlaced collection of techniques driven by individual intuition.

In a 2019 study (see reference), Reiki demonstrated efficacy with “pain, drowsiness, tiredness, nausea, appetite, shortness of breath, anxiety, depression, and overall well-being.” That’s interesting, but I have observed that Reiki does not take requests; instead, it flows to where it is needed—to an underlying cause, usually stress or trauma.

Reiki requires an introduction before an individual practices with it. The initiation is not difficult. Level One helps the student to set their ego aside and allow Reiki to flow. Level Two reveals the use of symbols and ways to use Reiki throughout Space-Time. Both of these levels can be reached in a two-day course that empowers the student to provide Reiki for themselves and others—in person or at any distance.

Additional levels are available with time and practice, but Levels One and Two are easily obtained and valuable for individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s and their support people. Many Reiki teachers provide ongoing mentorship.

Reiki is practiced in many styles worldwide. At Holy Love Reiki, we teach based on a system developed and periodically updated by the International Center for Reiki Training. Both Deborah O’Brien and I practice as Master Teachers of Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki and Holy Fire III Karuna Reiki®.

Meditation

If for but five minutes a day we sit quietly, each by oneself, the world will shift—in a good way. If you don’t have a meditation practice, get one; if you do, notice how you feel when you practice regularly. You might try:

Qigong

While Qigong can be an artistic sequence of complex movements, there are easy forms. Gentle exercises and practices that visualize, sense, and move Qi energy can help with Parkinson’s.

Tai Chi

Often thought of as a martial art for self-defense, Tai Chi is an excellent way to improve balance.
