The Story Of Salt Water Taffy 🍬🌊

Most food historians believe salt water taffy was invented in the early 1880s in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The owner of a small boardwalk shop sold taffy along with other items. One night, an ocean swell flooded his boardwalk shop. In the morning, he discovered all his taffy had been soaked in sea water.

During his cleanup, a young girl came into the store asking if he still had some taffy for sale. Jokingly, he said that he had some “salt water taffy.” The little girl purchased the taffy and took it back to the beach to share with her friends. Her mother heard the name and instantly loved it, and the name “salt water taffy” was born.

What Happens When You Freeze Dry Candy? 🧊🍭

Freeze drying uses extreme cold and heat to remove over 95% of the water from the candy while still keeping the flavor.

After the freeze-dry process, you're left with a light and airy candy that instead of being chewy breaks down and melts in your mouth. This is a great option for kids with braces or for those with sensitive teeth!
