With holiday season in full swing and last minute gift shopping amongst us, we wanted to highlight our newest practitioner Amanda Harriacharan’s shop fav. Amanda loves the sandalwood facial pressure point massage tool for its versatility and how easily accessible it is. You can carry it in your pocket or tote and access several pressure points along your temples, forehead, cheeks, and chin. Regularly practicing facial acupressure massage helps reduce strain on the eyes, relieve jaw tension, soothe jaw tension, reduce under eye puffiness, and promotes a state of overall relaxation.

She also loves using this tool in her own practice of Reiki + Reflexology. Amanda is an intuitive practitioner with 17 years of experience in healing arts, specializing in energetic bodywork. Through healing touch, Amanda brings balance and alignment, fostering mind-body wellness. Her intuitive approach aims to harmonize the body’s energy, facilitating transformative experiences for individuals seeking holistic well-being.

Golden Hour Staff Favorites: Holiday Edition!

We wanted to highlight longtime Golden Hour practitioner, Sara Thomas, for this week’s pick. Sara chose two products that she regularly uses in treatments and recommends to her clients: Po Sum On and White Flower in a balm or oil. These products work wonders to soothe sore muscles and manage pain relief. Po Sum On is a warming oil infused with Chinese herbs that promotes an increase in blood circulation and helps treat joint and muscle aches and alleviate pain rapidly. White flower is a menthol and camphor balm meant to ease travel and motion sickness, alleviate itchy bug bites, and also helps with muscle aches and pains.

Through acupuncture, Sara is able to share her love of self-care, and finds so much fulfillment in helping people live better through emotional balancing and natural pain relief. Sara studied Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shiatsu massage at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon. She was fascinated by the medicine and inspired to help people heal. Weeks after graduation, she traveled to Nanjing, China for 6 weeks of advanced studies, where she observed and practiced acupuncture and moxibustion in hospitals, visited Chinese herb farms and markets, and learned herbal formulas in hospital consultations.

Golden Hour Staff Favorites: Holiday Edition!

This weeks pick is from acupuncturist Theresa “Tess” Jones-Saxton. Tess enjoys the sight of our little ceramic cat incense holder as she walks through the door. A cute kitten that would brighten anyone’s mood as they light incense to rejuvenate their space and make it smell absolutely cozy and relaxing. There is a space for an incense stick in the back or a cone if you lift the cat off it’s pedestal. She just can’t get enough of it’s sweet face as it looks upon you with kind eyes.

Tess specializes in treating physical and emotional trauma using her mentor CT Holman’s treatment methods. She’s known for her gentle needling technique which is great for first time patients or those who are nervous about needling. Tess came to Chinese Medicine from a 20 year career as a yoga instructor and personal trainer, and after having an experience as a cancer patient that felt disjointed and unsupportive, she discovered Oriental Medicine as a wellness approach that treated the whole person (body, mind, and soul).

As August ends and September begins we have entered into the season of Late Summer - recognized as the 5th season in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Characterized as a time to gather ourselves from the bustling yang energy of Spring/Summer before surrendering into the pensive and thoughtful yin energy of Fall/Winter.

Late summer is most closely related to the spleen and its corresponding element, the Earth. Foods that will support your spleen during this transitional time include lentils, root veggies, quinoa, oats, and orange peels - room temperature to warm beverages are best in keeping your spleen happy!
