I love that there is a feminine ease to each of them and I intended for them to be easy to wear. While Atèlëtte is inspired by vintage, I never want my designs to be overly fussy or be too precious.

My favorite types of vintage and antique photos to find are the ones where people are doing everyday things. I love that these simple day to day moments were captured on film. Usually only the big things get documented, but remember that most of life nothing exciting happens, nothing noteworthy. A beautiful life is made up mostly of the small daily moments all stitched and threaded together. To be a part of your daily moments through Adored Vintage is what brings me the most joy with owning a shop.

Outfit 1 or 2? Which would you wear?

Here are two outfit ideas featuring the Fields By and By Skirt and the Sabrina Bodysuit. Sometimes you can get a whole new outfit just by adding a layering piece like in the first look where I layered the bodysuit under the Joelle Top.

The main differences with these looks all come down to the finishing touches. The cotton Indian block print Kimaya Bandana in Outfit 1 accents the handbag, and in Outfit 2, it will be worn as a head scarf.

I’ve been musing all week about when the best time to post about , the very small clothing line I’ve been working on for over a year and well, I suppose there won’t ever be a perfect or opportune time. There’s just the time we have and what we make of it. So here we are, a semi formal introduction to Atèlëtte, my passion project, my own label! (Eek! What?!)

The AVEYRON dress was inspired by a week my time spent in the Midi Pyrenees in France several years ago. I borrowed notes from my favorite 1940s dresses, 1930s feed sack dresses for the print, and also a bit of the 1990s, and here we are. The Aveyron Dress features princess seams, self ties to adjust the waistline, multi gored skirt, hidden pockets, functional buttons, and full lining.

The BENNET dress was inspired by Jane and Elizabeth Bennet as I feel a kinship to both women. I wanted to create a dress that has simple feminine lines and that is also effortless to wear. The Bennet Dress comes in a soft gauze rayon that moves and drapes beautiful and features a drawstring waist, functional delicate shell buttons, hidden pockets, and full lining.

PRE-ORDERS for the Aveyron and Bennet open on 2/22/22 with expected delivery date mid to late March, just in time to usher in Spring and wear these beauties into Summer and early Autumn!

Inspired by 1940s Land Girl style from the UK, this features the Whistlestop Overalls (cotton pinstriped overalls, so dang cute!), the Marley Linen Shorts, the Mariette Knit Top, Home Comforts Cardigan, and Garden in Rhodes Skirt.

Wear the knit top with the shorts or skirt and top off with the cardigan. Or wear the knit top under the overalls (the Alarie Knit Top - not pictured - would also be great under these overalls) and layer with the cardigan. Add a cotton floral print bandana in your hair (we recommend the Caillotte Bandana in our shop, a perfect finish) worn as a headscarf or tied around your ponytail.

Thank you everyone for your input yesterday about showcasing antique garments during the pop-up. Y’all are right, these beauties should be admired and appreciated!

On another note, we have a new seasonal everlasting bouquet coming soon online with a small batch heading to our retail shop inside this week! (And some minis too!)

In the next couple of weeks we will be bringing a lot more bouquets to our space with softer and brighter palettes so you can gift them to your loved ones or gift to yourself for Valentine’s Day.

I put together this little vignette that’s bringing a lot of joy right now. Not sure if we’ll keep it during the pop-up since we’re not selling garments, but I still do collect antique and vintage garments for my own self and I miss showcasing their beauty. Perhaps I’ll just put out a few garments to be admired? But I suppose if it were me, I’d get super bummed if I couldn’t buy them and take them home.

Patience is wearing the Mindful Keeper Dress, a timeless and feminine midi length dress in a soft pale mocha tan now available in our online shop.

This outfit is for my fellow kindred spirits who listened to Mazzy Star and Jewel in the 90s and dreamed about living in London in our 20s and then taking a spontaneous weekend trip to Paris to discover that you can’t truly love someone else until you’ve fully loved yourself. Couples kiss along the Seine and it begins to rain. Of course it starts to rain.

Well, none of this ever happened in my life, but all this to say that certain songs and certain colors and garments can be powerful tokens for memories, don’t you think?

Here is a feminine and romantic outfit idea for attending a summer wedding! I always like to bring a cardigan with me to weddings because you never know how cold indoor locations may be and how chilly outdoors will be when the sun goes down. Are you attending any weddings soon? (We have three coming up and I’m really looking forward to celebrations in person again!)

I read this quote today and wanted to share it because if you’re anything like me, you know life is most often lived in the small everyday things that are seemingly unimportant but when strung all together, well all those little things make up a life and once in awhile there’s a big thing but those are usually far and between for most of us in this world.

For me clothing is one of those “little things.” The freedom to decide what to wear each day based on how one feels and wants to feel or look. It is such a small thing, but sometimes a dress, a sweater, a blouse… holds so much importance because of the life lived in them and that is no small thing.

A bevy of pretty feminine and romantic new arrivals have arrived in the shop in silhouettes, prints, and hues that can be worn season after season, year after year.

P.S. - The “top” and skirt ensemble is actually a dress and skirt! I always love when garments can play double duty!

Whenever I’m traveling, even if it’s just for a weekend, I try to put outfits together that help create memories. I still remember what garments I brought with me the first time I traveled to France. The dress I wore for tea time in Burford, the vintage dress I wore to visit Tolkien’s grave, the dress and hair ribbon I wore in Normandy where I tried pommeau for the first time and fell in love. I often dress for the life I want to create for myself, for the places I want to see, for the things I want to do, and this is how I choose garments for the shop too.

I so love seeing the photos you’ve tagged us. I always feel a sense of pride and honor when you’ve chosen to wear garments from AV for your special occasions and equally important, the day to day simple beauty of everyday life. Isn’t this quote just lovely? I have this book from 1904 called “Morning Thoughts To Cheer the Day” and it was a gift from one young lady to another and it’s filled with notes and scribbles and underlined passages and it even has her original address (right here in Portland!) that she wrote on the inside and one of these days I may just drive by to see where Cora’s “Dearest Nancy” once lived.

For summer dressing, nothing is more quintessential than a romantic cotton top and ditsy floral prints in shades of blue.

Easily pair any of these tops with your favorite jeans, a pair of ballet flats or espadrilles, and beloved vintage straw bag. Timeless, feminine, and best of all effortless.

I endeavor to always offer timeless and feminine clothing in colors, prints, and silhouettes that you can wear year after year, season after season. There are notes here and there of my favorite eras for fashion and each piece has a slight hint and nod to a vintage garment I once owned or sold. The white dress harkens to the Edwardian era (especially with the button details along the back), the yellow dress is reminiscent of the 1940s early 50s, the camisole the Edwardian era, the skirt a bit of the 1970s.

What is a small thing that made you smile this week?

Outfits I would wear on my dream vacation to Southern Italy where the hardest decision I have to make that day is what kind of olive oil would I like with my bread and should I have one or two gelatos today. One can dream! Well, since I’m not going to Italy anytime soon, I can at least daydream about it right?! Where would you like to travel this summer? Or wish you could travel to?
