Let’s talk about Facial Serums 🙌🏼

If I had to pick only one face product to use, it would be a Facial Serum. (Besides an spf, but that’s for a later post😉). Serums are a delivery system for your skin, allowing the concentrated active molecules to pe*****te deeper into the skin for optimum fast results. They target skin concerns at a cellular level, helping your skin to combat many issues like acne, inflammation, redness, fine lines, pigmentation issues.

🌟My personal favorite combo right now... ➡️ ➡️ ➡️... In the AM, I apply the Firm Up Serum, and give it a minute or two to dry. It is an oil free hyaluronic acid base, so it soaks right into the skin. I love this serum because it is loaded with firming peptides and extracts to help build collagen and elastin, that my skin needs as I age. Then I layer it with the Blueberry Vitamin C Serum. In the PM I use the Firm Up Face Serum (you can never have enough collagen building blocks), let that dry, then I apply the Bakuchiol Face Serum (plant based retinol alternative).

✨Detoxifying Body Oil✨

Gently encourage detoxification and lymphatic drainage with cypress, grapefruit, and fennel essential oils.

This is an excellent body oil to use after a Dry Brushing session! Apply to skin after a shower or bath to lock in moisture and let the essential oils seep into the skin. Or, apply after a dry-brushing session, working upward from the feet in a circular motion toward the heart for the ultimate benefit.

Servello Body Oils are formulated with specific essential oils and antioxidant-rich plant oils that contain essential fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid. ✨How to Dry Brush your body✨

We have been having some inquiries on the topic of dry brushes, so we thought it a good time to repost our Dry Brushing posts🤗

First, you need to get yourself a good body dry brush with a long handle, if you do not already have one, we have them available online or at our boutique. (Link in Bio). Brush your entire body, starting with your feet and working upwards with large, upward stroking motions. Make sure both your skin and the brush bristles are dry, and always brush towards your heart, as this encourages lymph flow to the main ducts of the lymphatic system. Do not dry brush your face with this brush.

🍃Use a long handled natural bristle brush (we have them available online or at our boutique. Link in Bio)

🍃On dry skin, before you are getting in the shower, do long strokes, always towards your heart, 2-3 times over each area

🍃On your stomach, do a clockwise motion

🍃Follow each session with a shower to rid your skin of any toxins that have been released

🍃Apply our Body Firming Serum or Detoxifying Body Oil after you have showered

🍃Remember to clean your dry brush each regularly to remove dead skin cells

🍃Dry brush 1-2 times per week

Dry brushing benefits your skin and your body in many ways and is easy to add to your self-care routine.

Dry Brushing involves using a long handled natural bristle brush on your dry skin (we have them available online or at our boutique. https://www.servelloskincare.com/product-category/accessories/bath-tools/). You do long strokes, always towards your heart, 2 to 3 times over each area, and on your stomach in a clockwise motion. Dry brushing unclogs pores in the exfoliation process. If your skin is overrun with toxins or dead skin cells, it will not be able to eliminate wastes from your body efficiently. Our skin is our largest organ; one third of our toxins are excreted through the skin. Dry Brushing also helps detoxify your skin by increasing blood circulation and promoting lymph flow drainage.

Q & A💚 "Is your Bakuchiol Serum safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding?"

Yes! Bakuchiol is a plant based retinol alternative that is safe to use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Retinol is not recommended during pregnancy.

The Psoralea corylifolia plant🌱

➡️ What is the difference between Bakuchi Oil and Bakuchiol?

🟢 Bakuchi Oil is a cold pressed oil extracted from the seeds of the Psoralea corylifolia plant (shown), commonly known as Bogolji or Babchi.

🟢 Bakuchiol is an active chemical component found in that Bakuchi Oil. The chemical, Bakuchiol, was first isolated in 1966, from the seeds of Psoralea Corylifolia by G. Mehta, U. Ramdas Nayak, and S. Dev at the National Chemistry Laboratory in Poona, India. THIS Bakuchiol is the potent plant based ingredient used in our Bakuchiol Serum.💚

➡️ Not all Bakuchiol serums are equal. Some have Bakuchiol in their name, but are using Bakuchi Oil, not Bakuchiol. A company can put Bakuchiol on the product name, but it may be referring to Bakuchi Oil, since Bakuchi Oil contains about 10% of the Bakuchiol concentrate. The primary manufacturer of Bakuchiol uses a unique method to extract just the Bakuchiol molecule, which allows an exact concentration, 1%, to be added to skincare products. Other companies work with the Psoralea corylifolia plant to produce Bakuchi Oil and Bakuchi Extract, but not Bakuchiol.

➡️ So, how can you tell if your serum is using the active Bakuchiol and not just the Bakuchi Oil (which has about 10% Bakuchiol concentration in it)? Bakuchi Oil will be listed as Psoralea Corylifolia Seed Oil in the ingredients, while Bakuchiol is listed as Bakuchiol in the ingredients.
