Desert backpacking with a dear friend. Utah is stunning. The wildflowers were amazing. Ready for summer adventures!
Very cold, dry air, almost full moon. What a perfect central Oregon night.
After years of receiving Rolfing and his own exploration in the world of minimalist shoes, a dedicated rolfee is launching his minimalist sneaker!
I am so excited for him.
This is the Kickstarter page if you feel like investing in stylish healthy footwear.
I know there's a lot more choice in casual minimalist footwear than a few years ago. But having followed the development from the beginning I can guarantee that it came from a deep desire to create good shoes, not as a means to get easy money by jumping on the latest fashion fad.
I can't wait to get mine!
I also added the website in the comments. Please share for the sake of your feet.

Here is an official study linking mental health (especially poor) to the age a child gets a smart phone . Girls are more affected than boys. It's frightening.
Here is what I do for fun! I've never skied better in my life. I didn't grow up skiing, I learned as I went. I've been an efficient skier for a long time. I can go up forever and down mostly anywhere, but not in style!
After I tore my ACL I was forced to start rehabilitation and I seriously started working out. In retrospect It's one of the best things that happened to me. I am stronger than I've ever been and have become a better skier in the process! Regular Rolfing and working out keep me going.
Especially for women: as you get older (which means turning 40) don't slow down, on the contrary keep pushing yourself, lifting weights. Your body needs it more than ever. awesome pictures by my friend Tom Rogers.
Happy New Year!
May gravity keep you healthy! 😄
I can help with that too.

If you have some budget for Christmas, think about transkids. They are at a heightened risk for su***de. Half of them don’t live in a supportive environment.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. I love working with everyone of you. My work is a privilege I never take for granted.
On this day recognize that the amazing land I have been enjoying for the last few days was/is home to Paiute, Hopi, Zuni, Dine/Navajo, Ute, Jemez Pueblo, San Felipe Pueblo, Tesuque Pueblo, and Acoma Pueblo people.
Some of these incredible places might have been sacred, in any case respected. So we try to honor them too and acknowledge our tiny part of the ecosystem.
Little man, big wall.
Resilience
The only one of its kind for miles around. Obviously imported here. And yet it grew big and beautiful.
Plants, humans, animals. We’re all very resilient, but it doesn’t mean we have to abuse it. What if for a while we didn’t have to be “resilient”?
Let’s make a world where resilience is the exception not the norm.

Rolfing increases range of motion.
As a practitioner it’s not news but the fact that it was finally validated by a study is very important for us!
Hips? shoulders? Do you need more room to move? I’m your person.

Influence of Rolfing Structural Integration on Active Range of Motion: A Retrospective Cohort Study Background: Recent work has investigated significant force transmission between the components of myofascial chains. Misalignments in the body due to fascial thickening and shortening can therefore lead to complex compensatory patterns. For the treatment of such nonlinear cause–effect patholog...
So there’s a wonderful documentary about Rolfing/structural integration streaming on Vimeo. It’s winning a lot of awards and recognitions at festivals right now. The work Ales Urbanczik is doing in Europe for Structural Integration is amazing. I’m sure it will help Rolfers all around the world. If you’re curious go check it out.

I discovered that I am not receiving emails sent through the contact form on my website. It is very frustrating!
How long has it been going on? How many people have felt ignored?!!!!
I got rid of the page immediately.
I wish I could apologize to all those you never got an answer from me, but I’ll never know who they are…
(View from my hammock on a recent trip to remember to breathe…)
I remember when the project for the “new” Louvre (in the 80s) was very controversial! How could they dare building such a modern structure in the middle of a favorite traditional landmark…
I’m pretty sure it’s now a favorite of locals (I, for sure, love it even though I don’t count as a local anymore). It’s just so mesmerizing.
I think it’s a beautiful example of structural integration, integrating 2 design styles, epochs, cultures and materials. You don’t necessarily get rid of the old to move forward. The old and the new can work together to build something beautiful.
Summer break in France.
Visiting family and places I love. Recharging. As usual realizing how stressful and fast-paced my life can be in Portland and why everybody needs vacation time.
We know that exercise can stave off cognitive decline. Usually, exercise results in better posture.
So it’s not surprising that there would be a co-occurrence of cognitive and postural decline.
I don’t believe forward head posture or rounding of the shoulders create cognitive decline, but it’s a sign that your body and brain need more input.
Rolfing helps with posture, yes. But more importantly it helps with body awareness. Being more in touch with your body will help you notice when you need to step up your movement/exercise game as you age.
And of course giving a call to your favorite rolfer can only support you in fighting off cognitive decline. 🙂

I love this picture. It’s a clear illustration of a real issue. Why are we trying to squeeze our feet in shoes that go against our structure??!!
I know, for the same reason some women still wear corsets… guess what? I don’t wear those either!
Something seems off here 🤔
No wonder people have bunions
Wear pointed shoes = develop pointy feet
Spend time barefoot and wear foot shaped shoes (natural footwear) and your feet revert back to default settings
Yep….it’s that simple

Yurts, like bodies, are tensegrity structures. So delicate and so strong. So beautiful.
It needs just the right amount of tension to stay upright, just like you and me.
In our modern culture where so many spend too much time sitting it’s easy to develop areas of too much or too little tensions. It often leads to pain.
The first step to deal with it is awareness, then rebalancing.
Rolfing can help with both. Let me help you find the perfect tension.
Well, ski trip was canceled so mountain biking and saunas seem like a good alternative. My lungs were working hard because of the altitude but my legs felt strong from my training. I also received a couple of Rolfing sessions lately that put my back and repaired knee in alignment! My knee feels great. I’m not sure what I would do without Rolfing!
Santa was a little delayed but my present finally came!
If you had told me even 3 years ago that I would be asking for dumbbells for Christmas I would have laughed at you. But here I am. All thanks to a torn ACL I realized I wasn’t as strong as I thought I was.
I like feeling strong.
I like feeling stronger and stronger as I get deeper in my 40s, knowing that today I am investing in my future self, my older self.
Thanks to the pandemic I also realized it was ok to work out in my living room. I do miss the sauna at the gym but it hasn’t reopened anyway!
Entering 2022 I am committed to continuing my strength and health journey.
Cheers to feeling good in your body!
Happy solstice.
Find the light in the dark or be the light in someone else’s darkness.
And as my favorite trainer reminded me don’t forget to prioritize yourself. The time of year can be busy, crazy, overwhelming (for good and bad reasons), take care of yourself, continue your workouts or whatever keeps you sane.
I love going to the desert. Shapes, colors, textures, light that we don’t get in the PNW.
We’ve had an amazing trip to Southern California and it will help get through the dark and wet weeks ahead. But as much as we love the desert, we are always happy to come back to trees and moisture!
Experiencing the drought in the South is a good way to remember to be grateful for the water we have, even if sometimes it feels like too much!
Back to work!
I am always surprised by the deep feelings I experience when seeing light (especially inside) while standing outside in the dark of night. I am drawn to the light, the perceived warmth and safety. I believe it is a very primal emotion. Fire was warmth and safety, fire was a guide.
On the grand scale of evolution we are still very close to those times when humans lived outside at the mercy of predators and weather. And I believe a lot of our body’s reactions are still governed by our need and means of survival. They might not be adapted to the current state of our civilization, but the mechanisms are here nonetheless.
Because of my work I qualify for a booster shot, I just scheduled it.
Knowing you won’t die from it is not enough, it can still ravage your body.
