Today I met with Melissa Minkus Volunteer Director at Habitat for Humanity in their new Prescott Offices on Carleton. On Monday I contacted Melissa to see if they happened to have a couple of bunk beds at our local ReStore for 3 new PUSD Students in transition living with a relative. While the ReStore didn't have any at the moment Melissa had a conversation with her Executive Director Karen Northcutt who contacted our local Ashley Furniture Store and guess what Ashley provided the students caregiver with two sets of bunk beds. Ashley Furniture delivered them and set them up for these students.
That is the way communities work together. All it takes sometimes is one phone call and lives are changed. Prior to the phone calls these students were sharing a sectional couch in the main living area of this one bedroom apartment. Now these students have some space to call their own.
Thank you Prescott Habitat for Humanity for your open hearts and Ashley Furniture for coming through in a big way!!!
Saturday was fun filled at the PUSD Family Resource Center as we brought PUSD students and families together to participate in this year's 2023 Winter Wellness Fair.
