Engine 83 fought its first structure fire overnight. It worked great, drove well in and around a very tight area. There was a total of 15 Walker firefighters on scene and we had help from Prescott Engine 75.

Also, leaving interior doors closed can greatly impede a fire's ability to spread inside your home.

This screen shot is from a lengthy piece from the NY Times laying out the timeline of the Lahaina Fire. It captures a concern we've had about Walker Rd turning into a parking lot if we all had to leave at once. Then add in people leaving the campgrounds. The road is not engineered for that much traffic. This makes the argument for not waiting for an evacuation order when a relatively serious fire starts here. We'll tell you when it's relatively serious.

In case you smell smoke, it might be from this burn near Cottonwood.

"Fire managers have begun ignitions on the Blackline RX Fire southwest of Cottonwood along Forest Road 132 with 450 acres planned for today. "

The prescribed fire in Groom Creek should be resuming today and running all week.

We don't know how much this costs but we'll pay double.

There will be a large prescribed burn near Goldwater Lake that could blow some smoke our way.
