Election Ballot by July 15 and would appreciate you contacting us at [email protected] as soon as possible. The new board members will start their term on October 1st, 2024.

A Message From Your Board,

We, your board, are making preparations for our 2024 board elections. We have 3 board seats up for election this year. Each spot is for a 2 year term on the board. Since we are a volunteer organization, we rely solely on the membership to fill the needs of the club. We have advanced rather dramatically this past year with increased membership, improved quality of play, significant technology enhancements, and stronger relationships with the City and Community. However, due to our rapid growth, we face challenges with court capacity, lesson trainers, court improvements and court expansion plans, This is your chance to be a part of the decision-making process that will determine the direction of our club for the next few years.

Being a board member does involve some time, primarily for meetings and projects that the board develops to fulfill our mission of fostering pickleball in the Prior Lake area. Obviously, the club secretary and treasurer, by nature of their positions, have more precisely defined duties. The duties of the at-large board members tend to be more fluid but those board members help coordinate pickleball events (lessons, tournaments and ladder play), social events (ice cream social, pizza party, Boathouse street party, Dropshot holiday party, etc), fundraisers (banner sales, burger bash, LMF volunteers, etc), technology enhancements, club merchandise, court maintenance & improvements, membership & community outreach, and club communications. We are looking to recruit people with strong organizational skills to assist with these duties.

As you know the Prior Lake Pickleball Club was not selected for the Prior Lake Rotary's Signature Project grant therefore, we will be tasked with finding ways to accommodate the demand for court time as the number of pickleball players continue to rapidly increase each year. We are all proud of what has been accomplished by the Prior Lake Pickleball Club. Our courts continue to be one of the best in the area and we have maintained the reputation of being the friendliest group and the easiest facility to be able to drop in and play. Our challenge is to maintain that reputation as the sport grows.

Please consider being a part of the future of our club by running for the board or offering your skills to support the operation of our club. Reply back/Email the club at [email protected] if you would like to be a candidate or if you have questions. One of the current board members will contact you with answers. Alternatively, feel free to reach out to one of the current board members directly for more information.

The soon to be announced results of Prior Lake Rotary's Signature Project grant could be a huge boon for our club. If we win, then the new board members will oversee the addition of 8 new courts at Spring Lake Park along with an expanded parking lot and lights on 8 courts. If we aren't selected, we will be tasked with finding ways to accommodate the demand for court time as the number of pickleball players continue to rapidly increase each year. Hello Fellow PLPC Members,

I wanted to make you all aware that our club is one of 5 finalists vying to win up to $1 million from the Prior Lake Rotary Club through their Signature Project grant. The project we submitted requests $1M to build 8 additional pickleball courts at Spring Lake Park, expand the parking lot to accommodate the increased demand, and install lights on 8 of our courts.

On May 23rd, from 6:30-9:00 at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran church, there will be a Shark Tank event where all of the finalists will present their projects to the Rotarians and afterwards they will hold a club-wide vote to select the winning project. This event is open to the public and I encourage you all to come out and show your support for our project. I also encourage you to reach out to any Prior Lake Rotarians that you may know and express your support and need for our project.

If you want to umderstand why these courts would be a great benefit to our community, I suggest that you spend a few minutes reading our detailed phase 2 application that has been posted on our club website under the Team - Club Documents & Leadership menu https://plpclub.org/documentsleadership/. There is a lot of verbiage in the application but the key parts to read all appear in italic print and the Executive Summary will give you a pretty good overview.

I hope to see you all on the 23rd!

Regards,
Vic Noer
PLPC President

canceled today, but Brian Stordahl is inviting anyone who would like to help scrub the courts to join him at 10:00 with your own broom. He said the courts were pretty dirty, and he wanted to take advantage of the natural water source. Thank you, Brian and everyone who shows up to help!

Enjoy,
