A statement from Keith Morton, NVI Interim Executive Director: "Cedric Huntley was with the Nonviolence Institute at its founding in 2001 and served continuously on its board until becoming executive director from 2020-2023. "Mr. Ced" was a pillar in his community, a reassuring presence at the Southside Rec, and a peace maker in his long career with the Met High School. He came out of retirement to lead the Nonviolence Institute and continue his life work of building the beloved community. He seemed to be always present and available, always calm and always focused on setting things right. He mentored and supported hundreds of people and was a fierce advocate for youth. He kept nonviolence simple, inviting us all to soften our hearts and work at being kind to one another.

We share our condolences with Mr. Cedric’s family and loved ones, and with the hundreds of people whose lives he touched."
