We had Undercover Cameo on our bill for the Spring and were gutted that we had to cancel the show. I told both Olivia and Lucas that we still wanted them to come and play and that I would find a spot for them in the following season. So here they are, helping us celebrate the opening of Season 44 at the Stone Soup Sampler with Kat Quinn, Polly Bessette, Girl Love (NY), and Undercover Cameo on Saturday, September 14th at 7pm at The Music Mansion.

Considered by many to be the best-rising folk act in Rhode Island, Undercover Cameo has been taking the New England music scene by storm. Known for their ethereal sound and superb vocal harmonies, Lucas Neil and Olivia Charlotte are intent on cultivating an environment of loving and healing energies for every audience they encounter.

Kat Quinn came to us on an open mic night with a borrowed ukelele. She completely delighted the audience and I knew I just had to invite her back to play properly. After flying from Nashville, to New York City, then Los Angeles, and now finally, back to Boston, we couldn't be happier this indie-pop songbird is a part of our local music scene.

Quinn discovered her love for music at a young age with drums, piano, and guitar. Years later, she found herself with a broken heart and a guitar in her hands, and without even realizing what she was doing, she wrote her first song. She has toured internationally, performed live on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and had her music featured in numerous trailers, commercials, and television shows. So yeah, definitely don't miss our opening season Stone Soup Sampler with Kat Quinn, Polly Bessette, Girl Love (NY), and Undercover Cameo on Saturday, September 14th. 7pm The Music Mansion.

Polly was another person I met at an open mic night. I remember feeling like, "What did we do to court such a talented group of young songwriters?!" We even encouraged her to come back up on stage to play us another.

Polly Bessette hails from Warren, Rhode Island with a passion for lyricism and folky tunes. Her music captures the ears of many through her raw and thoughtful recollections of universal growing pains in the sweetest of sounds. Polly was nominated for a 2024 Motif Music Award and received multiple recognitions by the Official Grammy Awards Ballot under the name Esther Watrous, including being placed on the Official Ballot for the 61st Annual Grammy Awards by The Recording Academy for her song 'Colors In A Dead Garden' for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best American Roots Performance, and Best American Roots Song. (I KNOW RIGHT?!)

She plays around quite a bit but we love her and we know she'll shine as part of our Stone Soup Sampler with Kat Quinn, Polly Bessette, Girl Love (NY), and Undercover Cameo on Saturday, September 14th at The Music Mansion.

I was having trouble finding my people after hours at NERFA and met Girl Love along with some other q***r youth. As a presenter, you get courted pretty heavily by nearly every artist there but the vibe in the foyer was more my speed. I just wanted to sit down and listen. It was, however, when she made me cry at a showcase later that night with a song about her grandmother that I was head over heels for this amazing human being.

Girl Love is the musical moniker of Albany-based singer-songwriter Laura Beth Johnson. Girl Love aspires to affirm q***r holiness through a dark blend of story and soul. We can't invite too many folks from out of town to play but I am so pleased to be able to bring Laura to Rhode Island for a sampler show. Be prepared - you're going to want to pick up some of her merch. Tips on Preparing for the 2024 Stone Soup Fundraiser - https://mailchi.mp/e7b9015e00e7/2024-fundraiser-5457880 Make a plan to get there: There is limited street parking near the venue. We highly suggest taking RIPTA or a Ride Share, or walk if you live close by! If you need a place to park, consider Prospect Street and Benefit Street and walking up or down to the venue located in-between on the corner of Meeting and Cogdon. The closest parking garage is 121 S Main Street and a 12-minute walk to The Music Mansion.

I met Chris at a post-Providence Porchfest song circle at Jen Long's house last year but I have known about the 'Mericans forever. I am thrilled and honored they said "yes" when we asked them to play our fundraiser. We even got to distribute our flyers at the Providence Rock And Roll Yard Sale. Stone Soup is grateful for their support and we can't wait for their headlining act on Saturday @2024 Stone Soup Fundraiser.

If I'm being honest, booking SwampBirds was the first in a string of other decisions that really got this fundraiser planning underway. Not only are Swampbirds so much fun, but every member of the band is a solid human to rely on. It's the kind of kindness that is just so perfect for a Fundraiser. Perfect for Stone Soup! When booking, I tend to gravitate towards people who are genuinely delightful. Come be delighted on Saturday. Swampbirds kick things off at 12pm on the indoor stage.

Peter Vilbig joins Ed Dean and Maddie Cardoza on the Outdoor Stage at 12pm at our . Afterwards, swing by and say hello at the Artist Merch table in the Music Mansion foyer!

THIS JUST IN! Extraordinary Rendition Band will join us at 3pm to joyfully send us over to Prospect Terrace Park! We love it when we get to invite folks back to play. Paula Elser Clare Ciminero came by a couple years ago to sing beside Pete Silva and Katherine Quinn was a featured artist in this year's RISA, Rhode Island Songwriters Association Showcase in February. (That's going to be EVERY February which means it's coming back in 2025!) Come see them play the Outdoor Stage at Saturday's 2024 Stone Soup Fundraiser.

We started a new Open Mic Night & Workshop this year at Stone Soup Coffeehouse. The program was sponsored in the Fall but we had so much fun and found it so valuable to folks who participated in the program that we ran it in the Spring, too. We were even up for a Music Award! We've invited Bird & Augur, Sarah Lucie , and Maddie Cardoza back to play out Outdoor Stage at our June 1st Fundraiser!

Ed, or Ed Dean Music here on Facebook, has become a storied member of the Stone Soup volunteer team in such a short amount of time. Over the last year, I have had the honor to work closely beside Ed to really envision the Stone Soup of today and the future. He has given his time, financial support, and lots and lots of great ideas. He's also shared his music with us at the Open Mic nights we've held this past year. He's even running the Outdoor Stage at 2024 Stone Soup Fundraiser! A truly amazing human that we are so very happy to have with us. Come and see him play on Saturday!
