I have been serving as the President of Women United for the past 2.5 years. I love being part of this organization. I love the service opportunities I am exposed to and the wonderful women who come together to serve. It has been an opportunity to connect with some fascinating women and give back to this community in a variety of ways: reading in public schools, sub for santa, welcome baby volunteer to name a few. There is power in uniting women. I love being part of Women United! Melanie Lundberg

Women United had the privilege of donating over 200 "The Moon" books to the Walden School of Liberal Arts for their students and teachers!
The Walden School of Liberal Arts in a free, public charter school. It is a Title 1 school and accepts all types of students. Their school uses the Montessori (K-8) and International Baccalaureate (9-12) models to create a welcoming, creative, and unique educational environment.
We were so grateful to support families in Utah County through a partnership with the Walden School!
Last week, we had the opportunity to present to and talk about what we do as Women United! We had a great time and appreciated the opportunity to share our story. Thank you to Melanie Lundburg for giving the presentation and speaking with such passion about our mission! Also, thanks to the generous women of the group who decided to donate to our cause!

A couple weeks ago, Women United got together to do service for the Sub For Santa team and have a luncheon! They helped sort donated gifts and they even brought donations for the Community Action Food Bank!
We are grateful for this group of selfless women and the work they do for United Way!
Don’t forget to RSVP for our upcoming social on November 1st (just over a week away!) If you invite a friend, make sure they RSVP as well. We are excited to see you all there!
Next Friday, Welcome Baby is hosting a Community Baby Shower. Several families have registered to receive items that they are in need of. We need guests to come party with us and bring a gift to donate! Every gift, big or small, will make a difference in one of these families lives.
We are especially in need of boy onesies, diapers of all sizes, wipes, and a few stage 2 car seats. Bath toys and other supplies are also appreciated.
We would love to have some Women United members and friends attend this event and bring something to give.

We have loved reflecting on and celebrating women past and present who have impacted their communities this month! To end Women’s History Month, we want to spotlight one of our very own, Barbara Leavitt, Vice President of Community Impact. Barbara just celebrated 15 years at United Way! That’s 15 years she has made history by working to improve her community ❤️
Some of Barbara’s most touching moments are when she hears how our work has made a significant impact in a person’s concept of themselves. She says, “Everything our United Way does is strength based. We focus on what is strong, not what is wrong. I think we do this in all areas of our organization. We truly believe in our community and the capacity it has to face difficult issues.”
Thank you Barbara for everything you have done and continue to do for United Way and your community! And thank you to all women, like Barbara, who make history every day by lifting others and their communities.
Go to Dillard’s and buy yourself some stuff and help the United Way!
Today is the day!!! Dillard’s Orem Grand Opening will begin at 10:30 am with a ribbon cutting, prizes, and giveaways! A portion of the proceeds from the day’s sales will go towards supporting our local programs focused on education, health, and income. Come shop and support your local community! See you soon! 🛍
Happy International Women’s Day!
This is awesome!
Our South Franklin Community Center was spotlighted in today’s issue of the Daily Herald!
Recently, South Franklin residents participated in creating a new community mural in the center of the Boulders Apartment Complex in South Provo. Multiple neighborhood children submitted design ideas to Salt Lake City artist Andrew Alba. Kindia du Plessis, an art teacher at South Franklin, alongside Katelyn Garcia, a BYU art student, helped to make this dream a reality.
Over the span of several days, children, artists, and residents left their mark on a mural near the basketball court with the phrase “When we make the time to know our neighbors, beautiful things can happen.”

Welcome 2022! We are incredibly grateful for an overall great 2021 and a great finish to the year with our Sub for Santa Program! This program would not be possible without our ⭐AMAZING⭐Sub for Santa team!
They connected thousands of families with sponsors, to provide Christmas assistance and gifts. They also coordinated hundreds of volunteers who helped finalize applications, sort gifts, and deliver presents to families. From open houses to angel trees to delivery nights, they spent countless hours ensuring that as many families as possible were helped.
Thank you to our Terrific Trio for all they did to help Utah County families have a better holiday season in 2021! Stay tuned to see how our programs and community grew in 2021!
UPDATED 12/21 *Sub For Santa Stand-by Sponsors Needed* We are in need of 20-25 standby sponsors to help with last minute families and to fill in for any needed gaps. We are grateful to all of you who have already donated and sponsored this holiday season! 🎄🎁

We are so excited to be getting more books for our Lending Libraries! Thanks Orem for helping us gather them!
The City of Orem is partnering with United Way of Utah County Everyday Learners to collect children’s books this holiday season. Books will be used to fill lending libraries across Utah County. Lending libraries have grown in popularity throughout the United States and are used to increase access to books for children and their families. These mini libraries will be placed in Utah County neighborhoods and outside schools. Books will be free to take, with no expectations of needing to be returned.
If you would like to donate, books should be age appropriate for children in infancy up to 8th grade and should be new or gently used. We are looking for board books, picture books, early readers, and early chapter books. You can drop books off at the Orem City Offices at 56 N. State Street at the south side entrance.
If you would like to host your own book drive in your neighborhood, church group, or with friends there are instructions to do so on the United Way Just Serve website: t.ly/FJmO
