Placed 3rd at the WA State Jamboree at Banks Lake. I managed to get quick limits the first 2 days and grinded the 3rd day. This year was a great turn out with 86 boats/ 144 anglers.
Had a fun day fishing today. That's Mount Rainier, Washington in the background. Minn Kota

Fighting a Largemouth Bass at Potholes
Here's a video from my practice on Potholes Reservoir. I was fishing these man-made fish habitats with a dropshot setup. During the video you can see where the largemouth actually went inside one of these and hung me up for a few seconds. I kept steady pressure on him and he finally came out. He weighed 3 lbs and some change. I was using a McCain Fishing Kayak series rod that worked flawlessly along with an Ardent Wire 2000 reel that has a really smooth drag.

The tournament didn't go as planned but I did manage to finish 22nd out of 43 anglers. My 2 day total was 18.75lbs. Here's my new personal best largemouth weighing in at 5.30lbs that I caught dropshotting on the first day. It was an exciting battle trying to get this hawg in. I started to figure them out a little late on the last day. My go to bait was dropshotting a wacky rigged Yamamoto thin senko green pumpkin purple copper flake. My goal is to always learn something new from every tournament and I feel like I did. I love my McCain Fishing rods paired up with Ardent reels. The only time I broke a fish off was when they would get me wrapped up in structure.
👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻..........READ THIS........SERIOUSLY.............For those that haven't seen anything yet. The state of Washington is trying to eradicate bass, walleye and catfish by calling it a new projected rule as "rule simplification". The state only cares about salmon and thinks these other warm water fisheries are the cause of poor salmon runs. Maybe it's the "people" sitting in front of the river netting everything coming up the river. WE NEED EVERY BASS FISHERMAN, WALLEYE FISHERMAN to contact the state and express their concerns. The rule eliminates size limitations and eliminates daily catch limits. Below is the email received from the state to coordinate a meeting to vote this new rule in. This will ruin bass and walleye fish By forever. Seriously share this with everyone. Protect this amazing fishery that Washington has.
______________________________________________________________
Greetings,
You are being contacted in an effort to solicit any feedback you might have regarding a regulation proposal that will be made by WDFW staff as part of our ongoing “rule simplification” process. As you may or may not know, WDFW is currently attempting to simplify our sport fishing rules. As part of that process, we are taking feedback/ideas from both our staff and the general public with the hopes of having fewer sport rules, simpler sport rules and a re-formatting of our sport rules (regulations) pamphlet so it is easier to navigate.
The following is a description of a proposal that will be put forward during the rule simplification process and we would like to give you a chance to provide us with your feedback before we get down the process road any further:
WDFW staff is considering a proposal to remove size and daily bag limits on bass, walleye and channel catfish in all streams and rivers in Washington State.
As you are undoubtedly aware, the Columbia, Snake and Yakima Rivers have already had that rule change made, much to the understandable disagreement of many bass and walleye anglers. Hopefully the addition of this rule to other rivers and streams in the state won’t cause as much heartburn because of the lack of bass, walleye and catfish fishing opportunities in those waters.
This rule is being proposed solely as part of the simplification process with the intent of having similar regulations on all streams and rivers, and reducing the verbiage and lines in the pamphlet.
The following link will take you to a Doodle Poll, where you can post your available times to be on a conference call to discuss this matter, should you wish to participate. If none of these times work for you, please email me another day/time that would work better for you.

The WDFW staff cc’d on this email include our District Biologists from around the state and our Warmwater Program Regional Leads. Steve Thiesfeld is our statewide Inland Fish Program Manager.
When a date and time is decided upon, you will receive call-in information.
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Respectfully,
Bruce

Here's 3 more from Fridays Potholes Practice.
Here's one of many that I got on Friday. I found a pretty decent pattern for the upcoming tournament on Potholes Reservoir. I've been using McCain Fishing Kayak Series Trout Rod lately. It's a lighter action compared to their performance dropshot rod. Sporting my new Paul Krew "Custom Hand Poured Baits" hat. Can't forget to mention Ardent wire 2000 spinning reel. Fingers crossed that I can pull this off in a couple weeks during the tournament.
Went out on American Lake with Lindsay Moon and his son Eric this morning. The kids had a blast catching rock bass. With 10 minutes left before packing up, Kahlan and Eric landed these nice smallmouth. It was awesome. It made Lindsay and myself proud to be dads.
Well I finally put it all together. I got my first club tournament win on the Willamette River in Portland, OR. It was a grind due to all the little bass that you had to w**d through to get a keeper. A huge shout out to McCain Fishing Rods and Ardent Reels. Fishing isolated rock piles with current and tide changes was difficult but using a McCain dropshot rod made it all that much easier. The drag system on Ardent wire 2000 spinning reel performed flawlessly fighting these "stronger than usual" current weight lifting smallmouths. Oh and a big thank you to Berkeley for bringing back the twitch tail pro minnow in green pumpkin. They destroyed that every cast. I can't thank their product enough. It FINALLY all paid off. McCain Fishing Ardent Berkley Fishing
Sitting in second place with a whopping 8.00 lbs. only 0.15 behind the leader. Need a big bag tomorrow.
Practicing on the Willamette has been tough. A million small bass. Got lucky today and found some areas that were holding some bigger smallies. Tournament starts tomorrow. I'm thinking 12 lbs a day could with this one. Topwater bite was awesome this morning. I didn't even get 1 crank with the whopper plopper and it crushed it. The worse part about all of this is the amount of distance i need to travel to get to bigger smallmouth. .
My teammate and I had a difficult day today. We lost some nice ones today. We only managed to catch 7.50 lbs today with a total weight of 18.85 lbs. This picture is from day 1 with 11.35 lbs. Out of 26 boats we placed 3rd overall. McCain Fishing Ardent Bob's Machine Shop Rayjus Outdoors Tournament Tackle

I'm just getting back home from the 2017 Washington State Jamboree. My weights kept dropping everyday and only getting 4 fish on Monday knocked me out of the top 10. Overall finish of 13th out of 130 anglers is still pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to next year. I have to thank McCain Fishing Ardent Bob's Machine Shop Rayjus Outdoors for their awesome products that made my weekend a success.
Sitting in 2nd place out of 130 anglers at the Washington State Jamboree. Weighed in 15.04 lbs.
I had a pretty good tournament this past weekend. I finished 14th out of 38 anglers. My 2 day total weight was 24.20 lbs. If anyone has been on Lake Washington towards the summer you'll know that it is a circus of huge yacht and wakeboard boats. I'm really happy I have a Bob's Machine Shop jackplate installed. I lowered that all the way down to keep at least some parts of my boat in the water. Also a big shout out to McCain Fishing rods, Ardent reels, Rayjus Outdoors, Skeeter Boats. Next tournament is this weekend at the Washington State Jamboree at Banks Lake.

Here's one of many that I caught yesterday on Lake Washington. I used a McCain Fishing Spinnerbait Rod paired with a Ardent Apex Grand reel. Both work excellent together. Got the new jackplate installed. Bobs Machine shops 10" Action jackplate. I had it out on the lake this past weekend and it is awesome. I didn't thing a boat could get on plain so fast. Looking forward to the tournament season this year. This is a must buy if you're a serious tournament fisherman.
Installed my new Bobs Machine shops Action 10" jackplate today. This plate is bad ass and well made. Can't wait to get this on the water. .
With high 30's for air temp and 43 degree water temp and 2 hours of snow flurries. My teammate Joseph Androyna and I boated these 2 smallies today. 6.01 lbs total. I caught the 3.28 lber on Ardent Rayjus Outdoors McCain Fishing Bob's Machine Shop Stanley Jigs
I've been getting ready for the up and coming season. Looking forward to the warmer weather. Also looking forward to my second Minn Kota Talon and adding a Bob's Machineshop jack plate. Goals this year is to win.
Got my new jerseys in. McCain Fishing Ardent Bob's Machine Shop Stanley Jigs Rayjus Outdoors Looking forward to showing these off.
Today was the Take a Warrior fishing event. It was one of the funnest days this year. I had the honor to take this army soldier and his wife out. We probably caught 50-60 fish today from smallmouth, rock bass, tons of big perch and some nice trout. Went through a bunch of drop shot baits but it was well worth it. Big thanks goes out to CAST for Kids Foundation, Nixon's Marine for sponsoring and putting this event on. Top notch event.
Here's my jersey for next year. I'd like to thank McCain Fishing, Ardent, Rayjus Outdoors, Stanley Jigs, Bob's Machine Shop for the opportunity to prostaff for them.
I had an ok tournament this weekend at Potholes Reservoir. The bite was tough but I did manage to get these in using my McCain dropshot rod and Ardent wire 2000 reel. The biggest one was 4.90 lbs which is my new personal best for a largemouth. The bite was tough so I reverted to dropshotting a wacky rigged green pumpkin 5" thin senko. McCain Fishing Ardent

Caught a couple smallies today fun fishing. I threw everything but the kitchen sink and the only bait that worked was dropshotting a robo worm. I was using McCain's dropshot rod and Ardent wire 2000 reel. McCain Fishing Ardent .
