Join WRS on April 13-14th, 2023, for our annual Ron Taber Lecture Series. This year the faculty will be presenting lectures on Christianity and Liberalism by J. Gresham Machen in honor of its 100th anniversary of publication.
It's an excellent book that is as relevant now as it was 100 years ago. WRS has an open source version of the digital book available here:https://wrs.edu/assets/docs/Christianity_&_Liberalism_Machen.pdf
The podcast Theology Simply Profound by Reformed Forum also has a recording of the book read aloud, chapter by chapter, found here (this is the link for chapter 1): https://reformedforum.org/podcasts/tsp252/
No surprise here.
Earth's magnetic field supports biblical stories of destruction of ancient cities When battles raged in ancient cities, their rocks blazed so brightly that they could be reoriented according to Earth's magnetic field.
WRS is looking for a volunteer librarian. Are you interested in learning or practicing practical job skills in a volunteer environment? Here is a job summary:
1. The Main Volunteer will focus on sorting, classifying, and cataloging new acquisitions. This involves:
a. Checking new titles against the current database of WRS holdings. Duplicate titles of new texts can be laid aside for sale, gifting to students, or discard.
b. Classifying acquired titles. This sometimes is done manually with a reference guide, but normally is done through online import of the text’s data set (e.g., title, author, subjects). WRS uses the Library of Congress system of classification.
c. Cataloging involves data input into the library database (e.g., acquisition date, new or used, type of media, etc.).
i. Stamp new acquisitions. Occasionally repair damaged books
ii. Generate spine labels and unique bar codes for check out.
iii. Affix labels and bar codes to new books.
2. Some preliminary training on the library software may be required: probably online with in-house coaching.
3. Process and shelve books.
4. As a volunteer, library work hours are flexible.
Introduction to Biblical Counseling for Jan 2023 is quickly approaching. WRS is now offering synchronous distant learning for this course if you live anywhere outside of Pierce and Thurston Counties in WA.

We could use donors who have plants or funds they would like to put toward the project. [All donations are tax deductible.]
We would also love to have volunteers who would like to take out the old or help put in the new.
